    Walmart rationing ammo.

Okay I came to Yucca Valley to visit my mother. Stopped at the Walmart by her house and the shelves were empty, except 3 boxes of 9mm ammo. I bought those and asked the rep if they expected another shipment soon? She said that she had no idea when because it is random.
Now same day but I return 7 hours later to buy sunscreen for my 2 year old (we are going to raging waters in the morning). I am walking by the ammo lock up and what do I see? It is completely full of ammo and killer prices as usual. Same girl is there and I ask her why did she say earlier that they were out? She said I'm sorry but I have to do what my manager tells me and I can't answer that. So I tell her fair enough and bought 200 9mm -$52 and 200 45 - $70. Now I may be late to the show here, but do all walmarts do this?

It depends. At my Wally, there's one associate that only lets me buy 3 boxes, but then the others don't. So I actually scored today, two Winchester whit 9mm 100 ct, one Winchester white 45acp and 5 boxes tula ak. They had a ton of 45, 9, 223, and 762. And mke 308. No limit!
    I like guns.

Much of the ammo at Walmart is sold as a "loss leader" item. They want it available for as many customers as possible so that more customers are drawn to the store to buy other items. Limiting the number of boxes per customer and stocking the shelves at random times are two ways of doing this.

My wm clerk says that they get shipments everyday, sometimes twic, a day, but it just depends when it gets unloaded from the trailer. Most of the time if they are out ask a manager to help you they have the keys to the cag. and can check...

Those prices you listed seem low..Like two years ago low.

You lost me at "I asked the rep". I never ask those idiots anything that includes managers, general managers and district managers. 3 years+ plus waiting on a return phone call or reply to my email about their poorly worded innacurate signs about ammo and why they have warning signs about gun ownership in stores that don't sell guns.

My local walmart stocks in the morning most of the time. Sometimes its the night before. The supply here lately has most calibers in stock all the time with the exception of 22 of course. And i do know that 9mm is around 25$ per 100 depending on brand.

I was at the Yucca Valley Walmart Friday morning and they had quite a bit of ammo in the case. No .22 of course though. I just picked up five boxes of 7.62x39.

The clerk did say that only .22 (when they have it) is still limited by the 3-box rule. Further clarified by a sign that says it is "limited to 3 boxes per person per day".

25 bucks for 100 rounds of 9mm is not selling at a loss

Walmart does not sell ammo at a loss. Yes, the margins can be thin, but not even wally can give away money
