The mag catch doesn't stop the mag from seating too deep that job is for the bottom of the mag.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Slap that mag in there. Don't be shy.

"With a magazine of 10 rounds, lock and load!" Wow......I still have that phrase bouncing around in my bean!

Whether it's a nice firm push, slapping the mag home, or easing the mag until it clicks, it should work the same.

Slapping the mag home causing a malfunction sounds like a problem with the gun.

If you're attempting a tactical reload, press the mag in with authority and make sure it clicks, otherwise, on your next shot, you'll have an empty pistol and a full mag on your shoe.

Empty reload shouldn't require much force at all. If it does, figure out why and fix it.

Darn! I thought I was the only one who could insert a mag in my Glock and have the slide slam shut in one elegant and deadly movement..........

If I had a pistol or any gun that I had to gingerly load it and baby it I would sell it as fast as i could. it is my firm belief that a gun should be able to take punishment and keep firing.
I personally slap in my mags.

                        For a semi-auto pistol...

I don't recommend "My mag is locked - I open the top of the weapon and top load the bullets", because the extractor will be moved forward the casing's notch and will cause some damage.

I chose slamming, because Glocks like it rough.

The first part of the SPORTS immediate action drill taught in the Army is "Slap up on the magazine"

Nothing wrong with giving it a slap, I just don't see any great merit in it when not required.
