    Brownells shipping rates suck!

To anyone that says MidwayUSA shipping rates are high and they suck, go buy something from Brownells and then come talk to me!

I just ordered a set of VZ grip screws from Brownells, as I was the lucky recipient of a Brownells gift card and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the final amount for shipping and handling.

They charged me almost $8 for a $19 set of grip screws. ***, that's 42% of the value of the grip screws. Damn screws could've been packaged in an envelope with a first class postage stamp.

A few months ago, I ordered 2 M&P .22 cal mags, a 9mm Shield mag and a 1911 mag holder, total shipping and handling on all that was only $5.50 from MidwayUSA.

At least I'm gonna have some pretty cool grip screws to go with some awesome grips on my new pistola in a few weeks!

    Rant over.

You ONLY ordered one item from Brownells??? Ordering from Brownells is like going to Costco, you go in for just one item and you end of leaving with ten items.

That is a bummer, shipping should have been about $3.50 max. But look how much gas you saved driving around looking for VZ grip screws

Have you never bought anything on the internet before? Big companies like Brownells won't use USPS due to the fraud they have to deal with, and USPS's crappy tracking.

I have had opposite experience as you, with Midway being really expensive. Hell, they even kept shipping me the same incorrect stock over and over again. I even marked the package with a sharpie to see if I'd get the wrong stock back again... I did...

I have never been quoted more than $5.95 for a small item. I usually order more than one item and the shipping usually stays at 5.95 until I order something with some weight to it.....then it goes to 8.95.

Same here, I hate buying from Midway just because of their shipping price and how screwy their system is. Ex. I made 2 purchases last year at the same time on 2 different shipping invoices, one to Cali and the other to my parents place which is 25 miles away from MidwayUSA. I received the package in Cali (<2000 miles) before the package got to my dads house in Centralia, MO (<25 miles) using the same carrier and shipping rates.
Brownells has better turn around time when it comes to getting items out the door and shipping is faster. Iowa apparently something better about it allowing it to ship faster than items in Missouri. Brownells will hook your account up if you are LEO/Military and give discounts on 90% of the items, I think i emailed them a copy of my ID 3 years ago and now when I log in I see my price instead of the regular price on everything.

Never mind. Their shipping must have just gone up a few dollars because it gave me the same shipping price. As long as they don't take away my dealer account like midway did I will still buy from Brownell's first.

USPS vs UPS. I'd rather buy multiple items from Brownells and spread out the shipping than deal with USPS.

I hate it when they pull crap like that.

At my job I sometimes order from a certain company and they are local, like 40 miles away. I order big and small items. Every now and then I need to order very small screws most of the time just one, it is so small it's the size of a small individual NERD candy bit or smaller.

Easily fits in the smallest of envelopes and 1 stamp would be more than enough. But no even though it's going to a business address the lowest shipping charge is 8 dollars, for get this a 8-9 dollar screw. So most of the time I order a few to keep on hand but only together in a bigger order so that I don't get bent over on the shipping just for that one lousy screw.

And they act like it's such a hassle to do it for you.

Don't forget, you get lifetime warranty/refund/replacement on everything you buy from Brownells...I'd say that's worth a couple of bucks any day
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
                          Come on...what harm??

I keep adding things in my cart, until i find a good shipping coupon.
Can never check out without spending at least $100, just like costco.

One thing I learned about shipping costs occurred when the local UPS Store charged me $95.00 to ship a barreled action to Texas via Second Day Air. Fortunately the barrel maker reimbursed me on my next barrel order, because the return was for a correction of threading.

Next time I sent a barreled action to Michigan I went to the local UPS terminal and the same service cost $15.00.

As for shipping costs, I really don't give a crap. If it's something needed I just pony up the cost. Local Gun Shops just don't have the things I need, and if I order them there is an additional wait and I still pay more. Beside, my time is worth something and diesel fuel costs to run down town.

I did draw the line when ordering cases of microwave popcorn, the shipping was double the cost of the popcorn, even if the stuff tastes better than any other brand. Now I buy mushroom popcorn (the round stuff used in caramel corn, etc) in bulk with all the fixin's from another vendor and pop it with a popper.
