I am only interested in original looking military type AKs. find a nice parts kit built AKM and be done with it. Part of owning a AK is the history, New altered AKs are just sporting rifles to me.

A WASR may be what you're after. Its made out of a mix of new and surplus parts.

The front trunnion on mine left the arsenal in 1969. Some of the parts are new for export reasons, some are old surplus.

Or get a parts kit and make one yourself.

If you haven't already, take a look at AtlanticFirearms. They are CA friendly and have a pretty good selection.

Go classic wood. Nice rifle... Shoots like the rest and really feels nice..

Saiga, an if you have pre ban 30 rounders you can use them as well with a few part changes.

I would spend the extra $100 and buy a CAI opap or npap over a wasr. Wasrs feel cheap. But do your own research and don't take anyone's word.

Lots of options for the Saiga, Carolina Shooter Supply is an awesome place to pick up parts or complete conversion kits.

Another one here for the Saiga.

Though if you're into zombies, you should know that the undead don't make new batteries, so you may want to run irons.

                  Just saying.
So I was driving home from the range and I noticed that the scent of warm steel, burnt gunpowder and lukewarm coffee combined and smelled oddly of... Peanut butter?! Man, the Hoppe's is going to my head.

I recently decided between an OPAP and a saiga. Went saiga. Had it converted. Shoulder is bruised now. Quite pleased!
