Entry level AK recommendations?

As the title says I would like to know what are some decent either AK style or fires the 762x39 round weapons. Looking for something that is decently reliable and can mount an acog. Probably won't put anything else on other than a sling.

Saiga has a nice sporter 'featurless' rifle that does not require a mag lock.

I second that. And should you ever decide, you can always convert it to a more traditional ak styling later.

Another vote for Saiga. You won't need a mag lock and it has a chrome lined barrel. Basically it's a high-end Russian AK that has been sporterized. Unfortunately the price of these guns have gone up about $150 over the past 3-6 months.

I vote for the saiga i love mine i put a 3 moa red dot on it . It does all u can,ask out of an ak . As fir accuracy i have got 2" groups out of it with a good 3 x9 & some winchester hunting ammo

With the exception of IO made guns, all stamped AKMs function and shoot about the same. The more expensive ones are only more expensive due to fit and finish. So, just find the cheapest one you can find that isn't made by IO and, you should be fine.

CA-Legal WASR-10, I would have said SAR-1 but those are long gone.

I wasn't too stuck on the optics to be honest. In reality I would probably use the ACOG on my DDM4, and move the EOTech to either the AK or something. I should also point out that as far as taking the gun "seriously" for range or whatever, I'm not competitive at all, I just like to go to the range, hang out, fire some rounds, and go home. So "getting the most" out of it isn't really important, just as long as I have fun at the range. Also the reason I wanted a gun that shot the AK round is because my collection is designed around surviving the zombie apocalypse. I'm getting a gun that fires every common round. Right now I have a 9mm, .45, 12ga, 5.56, .308, and .22. Coming up will be the 7.62x39, .40 (prob glock 22). After that, considering a .357 and maaaaybe a .338 Lapua.
