    Oregon Firearm Laws

I am going to Oregon next month for a college graduation. I plan on bringing my Sig and a couple of high capacity mags (they were acquired before the ban). Does anyone know if they have any silly laws banning hi cap mags or any other related restriction?

No idea as to Orygun weapons laws.

I know this might seem like an outlandish idea, but maybe a google for "oregon gun laws" or "oregon gun transportation"??

It's a very free state. I don't have actual laws to quote, but the gun store I was in a few months back seemed to be vary free. Normal capacity magazines are good to go. However I don't think you can transport back and forth.

Don't go around telling people you are from California Oregondonians don't like their neighbor to the south all that much.
      Love Oregon.

Once you leave Ca you cannot bring back into state unless you block them to 10 rounds does not matter when you acquired them unless you are a cop.

          Sir,

I'm afraid that you're giving out some bad information here. A lawfully possessed pre-ban magazine may be taken out of state, and then lawfully return to the state. Please refer to Penal Code section 32420. Here is the text:

"Section 32310 does not apply to the importation of a large-capacity magazine by a person who lawfully possessed the large-capacity magazine in the state prior to January 1, 2000, lawfully took it out of the state, and is returning to the state with the same large-capacity magazine."

Can he prove he had the high cap mag prior to 2000. Bet he can't . DOJ
gets him he will be cited or arrested and have to prove he had it prior to that. That is the real world.

If you do not have a valid OR conceal carry permit, then you can not legally conceal carry in OR.

Open carry is legal in OR. But, local cities/counties can legally ban it.
AFAIK... Astoria, Beaverton, Independence, Newport, Oregon City, Portland, Salem, Tigard, and Multnomah County have local ordinances banning open carry.

You can not possess a firearm on school/university property.

Tell it to lawyer and judge when you get to court and have spent lots of money. Better to be safe than stand on moral high ground and get kicked in the huevos. I would take them blocked and bring them back blocked i do it all the time to and from AZ.

I bet I can. Believe it or not but I kept the receipts from when I purchased them back in the 90's. They were stapled to the gun purchase receipt and never noticed it until recently.

                        Sir,

You're talking about two very different things here.

In your post #4, you told the OP what he could not do. And you were simply wrong. The law states otherwise.

In this post you're arguing that it is unwise for the OP to take the magazines out of state, and then return. That's probably some good advice and I would agree.

He has the receipts which very few people do. That is great i would love to be there if he got pulled over and showed it to leos. 2 weeks ago 7 people got arrested on way back from Reno.
