Just remember there is a lot of people selling stuff online that English is not their primary language which is why there is a lot of confusion, like everything else these days even bullets are made in China with customer support being in India and marketing dept. is in Taiwan.

I picked up the term "boolits" from the Cast Boolits forum. It is a way to describe whether you are shooting dirty J words or some other mass produced projectile, or home cast lead bullets. Actually, some people swage their own jacketed bullets as well. Others have automated casting machines that they use for personal shooting and not to resell. I don't know where the line is drawn for boolits vs. bullets.

I use one of the two versions I listed above. A round can be fired from a gun, and a bullet can't, as it is part of a round of ammo. "Bullet heads" is the dumbest one I have read, but it could be someone who doesn't have a good grasp of the English language.

Just call bullets, bullets. If people are too ignorant to learn proper terminology, then that's on them.

Pretty common even here on Calguns. I find that far more annoying than the magazine/clip thing, since even the authoritative Small Arms of the World uses "magazine" and "clip" interchangeably.

No excuse for referring to a cartridge as a bullet.

Well, here's another rant...
I see folks offering bullets for sale, but they can't quite bring themselves to call 'em bullets.
They describe them as projectiles, slugs, pills, and the most egregious of all..."Bullet Heads". Correction: most egregious is "Boolets"
I think the reason they don't call them bullets is because they think the entire cartridge is called a bullet. They don't know that only the part that fly's from the muzzle to the target is a bullet. The "Antis" often refer to the number of bullets a magazine will hold.
I realize that most people could care less what others call anything, but it bothers me, so that's it...

There are rounds of ammunition and each is made up of a shell casing or brass, a bullet, a primer, and a charge of powder/cordite.

A 10 round magazine holds 10 rounds of ammunition.

If someone is advertizing that they are selling 500 bullets, then they should be sending out 500 projectiles.

If they are advertizins that they are selling 500 rounds of ammunition, then they should be sending out 500 completed rounds with shell casing, primer, powder, and projectile, all assembled and ready to insert into a functional firearm.
