    Turners in Rancho Cucamonga

So last month I was talking to a good friend about buying a gun. He didnt seem too interested but his g/f who is the sister of my friend decided they should get one. I broke out some guns for them to look at and surprise they liked the G19.

Well skip ahead to the other day when he brings his new purchase home. His g/f starts to tell me she doesnt understand the laws about transporting it. I asked what was confusing and she stated the counter clerk WADE had instructed them on how to transport.

I work as an instructor and teach classes that deal with law for transport and the such so I want to make sure they have the right information. HOLY FAWK...

Bullets can not be in a magazine -
Magazines can not touch the gun (empty or not)
To prevent mag from touching gun, place papertowel between the two.

There was more but I got so frustrated my hearing shut down..

    whoa.
It doesn't matter how scary, ugly, uncomfortable, or inconvenient self defense can be. Like it or not, you will never, ever be relieved of your duty and responsibility to defend your life, your family, your country and your freedom.

But officer, i have my paper towel right here. That's pretty bad. I was ( and still am ) surprised that my LGS let me walk out of there store with a new gun in an unlocked factory case without question. I drive a truck so i have no way of locking the gun in a separate compartment. Seams like a good selling point to make sure your customer is legal. I would think they would at least have a printed hand out for transporting your firearm legally.

People need to learn that the clerks in gun stores cannot give legal advice. I've heard customers ask for legal advice in building/modifying an AR15s, legally carrying a handgun, importing off roster handguns, bringing rifles into the state followed by a barrage of "what if" questions when they don't get the answer they want. Then they hold the company accountable for hiring incompetent sales people.

The only people in CA who can give legal advice are attorneys. There are ample publications dedicated to what is legal/illegal and people need to avail themselves to them BEFORE the purchase of the firearm NOT rely on the opinion of a minimum wage worker after the purchase.

This is their first firearm, and just like your first car, you tend to listen to the salesman.

I am glad I was able to get them good info before they go off and get in trouble over some bad advice.

I do not give advice to those in the culinary community even though I eat food. You should not give gun advice just cause you sell guns. Someone is going to end up in jail because of stupid seasonal salesman like this.

And even the attorneys don't know what they are talking about most of the time.

You get the same quality of gun law advice from a store clerk as you would from a police officer in most cases. And asking the clerk is safer because he won't arrest you for asking.

Ask a criminal defense attorney, who specifically does firearms.

You've never heard of the paper towel law brah? It was enacted during the Clinton era, the premise was that when the gun and the magazine touch people die so thus a barrier must be created.

Once again, I recommend every handgun owner go to staples and buy a $27 briefcase with combo locks.

I picked up a handgun the other day and brought my empty briefcase with me.

In a locked case you can carry the weapon, loaded magazines (not inserted) on the front seat if you desire.

The case doesn't scream Gun Inside, so people and police don't panic like a Glock case or obvious gun case.

                      Yeah....Wade.....shakes head.....

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

Nobody would have ended up in jail by following the advice of that particular sales guy. Nothing illegal about it at all. Silly advice? Yep. Illegal advice? Nope. Maybe you should stop ranting about stuff that will have no negative outcome whatsoever.

Now that she's a new firearms owner you need to explain to her RULE #1: Never EVER listen to gun store salespeople.
