"The good guys" is relative to the perspective from which you look at it from. Typically, AKs are used by groups or countries that many consider "bad guys" in the west. The gun was designed in the east, distributed among the east, and fairly available to any god forsaken terrorist, drug lord, ect. From the other point of view they are the "good guys". However, if you watch and study various conflicts in the Middle East, AR platform rifles are also used by the "bad guys". They are not picky in most cases, and will take anything that will throw lead. The AK just happens to be very widely available, thus gets the bad reputation.

I personally don't look at guns and like or dislike them because of who made them, or who used them, I like them based on operation, function, and of course the one nobody likes to admit, looks.

I am a good guy (at least I think so), and use some AKs

Russian Spetsnaz may be "communist" however they are a counter terrorism unit and considered mostly "good guys" by me personally. They use just about every AK...
Perspective is everything. Hence the Vietnam War being called the American War by the Vietnamese.

Also, always remember, the victor writes the history books.

Stop the logical and linear argument.

If they have an emotional reaction to an inanimate object, don't use logic to counter the illogical statement.

If they beleive in spirits, ghosts, aliens and that the AK can only be used for evil, I would just giggle.

In a battle of good and evil, may times they use the same weapons.
It is about the people and the cause, not the fact that a machete, pistol, rifle et. Is used.

In many Christian - Islamic wars, both sides used the same weapons.

AK and such in Bosnia and Africa...

Saying that any inanimate object is good or bad is as racist as saying that all people of X skin color are good or bad.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

          Nice find Sutcliffe!

I highly recommend the book. It had a pretty lengthy section dedicated to our young Hungarian.

losing argument considering the reason to buy an AK.. over a new semi auto design... is mostly about its legend as a weapon...

The brave Russian commando's who gave their lives fighting against Islamofascists at Beslan are real life hero's who carried AKs, fought bravely and laid down their lives.
