I love my jerky and beer, but I really just want to find a nice upper half and some amo.(5.56) This will be the second time I've been to the show so I don't really have much to compere it too.

it was ok... if your not going for reloading components or reloads then its not really worth going. everything cost about the same if not more than outside prices. i got 1# hodgdon h335 for $19 and a 1k CCI SR primers for $21. the real score for me was getting 500 plus of .223 lake city brass thats been cleaned, resized and swaged for $14

It was packed today. First thing I did was head over to Miwall and pick up a dolly full of ammo. I don't know if they sold out of .223 & 7.62 but people were buying it like crazy. After dropping that off at the car I just walked around looking for nothing in particular either that a couple rifle cases. I got a good deal on those. The place was packed.
My deal of the day was a brand new K-Bar in a nice leather sheath for $40.
I did see a guy sitting outside with some display cases selling 1911 grips. They were smooth with a glossy finish that is really not my thing. But the wood was some of the nicest I have ever seen. I was really tempted as he was only asking for $65 a set. The beautiful exotic wood selections this guy had would have put anything Esmeralda or anything else I have seen to shame. Wish I would have got his number.
Anyway, either than my feet being sore and my pockets much lighter I had a good time.

He was just sitting outside under where the trees are by the taco stand. He was a big guy, white, probably late 40s, wore glasses and had brown hair. He had a rolling cart and a bunch of aluminium display cases with plexi front so you could see inside. Each case had 6 sets of grips. He also had some that looked like bone or something. I don't like the look of those either. They are white with brown grooves kinda like wood... I did hear him tell someone that they were real... something and not plasitic. I was just sitting across from him taking a break and people kept walking by and asking him about the grips so that is when I got up tp take a look. Now I'm really wishing I had got a set...
A couple people asked him if he had a card and he gave them one for a carpentry business. This thing was a hobbie for him.
Wish I could ba more helpful.

The guy was actually there as a private seller, no booth. The grips were being sold off from his personal collection.

His name is Jeff Sofferin, and the number for his work was 818-517-0968. That's his work number, as he gave me his day-job business card.

The grips were BEAUTIFUL. Some incredible shiny burl-wood examples.

I haven't been to the Costa Mesa show in over a year and thought it was pretty good. It was pretty packed when I went about 11 AM, but was kinda surprise about the $12.00 admission. Thankfully, I had the $1.00 off coupon...
