I like the metal ones better, I have some plastic ones that came with ammo in it but they are not that durable, wouldn't be too confident trucking it from the car to the line because it would suck having to pick up 1000 rounds all over the floor.

There's no reason to replace what you have. Plastic is perfectly serviceable (and have functional handles).
If you want something more durable (drops and hits can break the plastic - and even the metal) the metal is better.
Just use what you have and add/replace as necessary.

For many years I used the metal ones until I purchase some ammo from Cabelas and I got their plastic ammo can, them things are built tuff and I have since replaced the majority of my metal ammo cans to plastic ones from cabelas. I order 1 box of .22lr ammo and they send me a 15 dollar plastic ammo can for free each time

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

I buy mil-surp steel ammo cans and just spray them with flat black spray paint ($0.99 a can from Home Depot / Walmart).
