Its also a superfluous cartridge because of the really nice small 9mm guns out. Why so you meed a .380 when kahr makes a percectly good pm9? .380 made sense when full sized guns were 1911's, smith model 59's, .38 specials with 4" barrels but they dont make sense anymore.

I also dont get why people put a gun in a pocket when there is a perfectly good waistline with a belt to carry it. Faster draw, you can reholster one handed, you can draw when sitting, and you dont need to get a mouse gun since its on your waist anyways.
just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

The M&P 9mm Shield has a little more stopping power, even the M&P 9c slightly longer and ever so wider.

If it came down to it both will make a hole in someone. If someone is high on crack with a knife in hand, you might need a 45cal to stop the threat.

      380 = 9 short

I thought James Bond used a 32acp. Either it or the 380 will stop a threat on crack if you hit in the right spot.

I use to work at Graterford Prison in Pennsylvania. I use to ask the criminals what caliber they wanted to get shot with often. To a man they all has the same answer. None of them!!
Carry what you like, what you can accurately shoot and always have it with you if you can.

380 is fine in my book.

EXCEPT! That in The Man with the Golden Gun, Scaramanga refers to his one round against Bond's SIX, which calls into question the caliber of Bond's pistol in at least that movie. Could it have been a simple production error, OR does Moore's Bond carry a .380acp PPK?

HAHA @ "380 is for hookers". I didn't know they had their own special caliber.

People associate them with highschool gang bangers...

Funny, a .380 was the first gun I ever owned (in high school)

Because you are better off with a 9mm, and .380 ACP is a complete pain in the *** since it's easily mistaken for 9mm when you go to reload it.

                          I carry a .380 as a backup often

I'd carry a J-22 if it was all I had, and I have

It dosen't matter, since most of you cant carry anyways and are limited to little knives and pepper spray

Will it just bounce off skin?
Ive shot this caliber and i wouldnt want to b on the business end of it. So why all the negative opinions?
.380 is still better than no gun.
Hell, Id carry a .22 over no gun

I have two 380s that I carry. A ppk/s and a LC380. The main spring is easier to manipulate the slide so my wife can comfortably use it, or maybe I'll have a broken arm and have to chamber a round with my teeth. Recoil and noise are less then a 9x19. Noise matters in cars and beside your ear in a roll around fight. Lets say some youth is playing the knock out game and pows me, my wife or whoever is with me will have an easier time using my gun. So 380s cost a little more. What I carry and practice with, FMC bullets, are about 20 bucks a box, I can live (or maybe die) with that. It might be better if the 380 bullets stay inside the bad guys body instead of passing thru. There are just so many pros and cons that could be argued either way. The 9x19, 9x18 and 9x17 are all good rounds. Nothing beats having a gun, hitting first, shot placement, and multiple hits.
