The first time I asked Ade to send his FFL, it was done within the hour. I've used him for dealer transfers with no issues. He'll gladly transfer purchases that you make from internet vendors or Gunbroker.

What I don't understand is that people insist on doing PPT with him. You do understand that he only makes $10 for PPT? But being such a nice guy, he'll graciously do them for the $10.

But, why put that kind of burden on him when you know how busy he is. I don't think anyone is doing him a favor by doing PPTs in his shop.

I agree with this reasoning. Sure he does PPTs no problems but they are pretty short staffed for the amount of customers that come in. If I'm doing a PPT I try to buy a few odds and ends to give the shop some business.

If you want to do a PPT near Ade's, I'd suggest Fowler's Gun Room. They are right down the street and have done three PPTs for me with each taking maybe 10-15 minutes tops. They have plenty of workers in that large shop.

I will no longer be doing business with Ades either even though I have bought about 10 guns from him over the years and consigned one as well. I didn't and generally don't post bad things about his shop though for various reasons.

One being he is a nice guy even though he is "scatterbrained". Also because if you even mention here you had a problem with him or his shop people here that think he is like the Messiah will jump all over you and flame you.

I don't really want to get in to it but the bad vibes I get from stuff I have seen/experienced go on there and the bad attitude I got from the help there recently caused me to chose finally to spend my $ elsewhere.

PM for details and if I don't get a million people wanting to know why I will try to respond if you must know more details, I will not post publicly.

I went to his shop once.

There was a very long line and a creepy atmosphere from his clerks.... Ade seemed like a swell guy, but his operation is too small and understaffed by creepy people.

Well I'm still an Ades fan

Ade may have his issues (and who doesn't?) but he is a guy that I personally prefer to work with and give my business to.

I deal with a lot of suppliers in my business and from time to time they all have problems or issues, but I've learned to roll with it. Through patience, understanding and good attitude with the suppliers I find that I get way better service and attention (and pricing!) than the guys who yell, whine and complain.

Creepy, lol! Someone that works there sort of reminds me of Private Pyle from Full Metal Jacket! I think I'm going to name any future M1A purchase I make "Charlene".

Long lines at a gunshop can mean that they are doing something right though, I assume it's his willingness to do ship ins and get in to the whole OLL thing.

It's also possible though due to being understaffed and inefficient though and being a small shop.

Ades really needs a number system as do some other gunshops out of fairness. Reseda Turners has one but that does not fix all their problems but it helps a little.

                  ADE's

I went to ADE's for the first time on Thursday to fill out the paper work for my first OLL from out of state. They treated me great and completed the paper work right away. I was so happy that I purchased a 22 stainless steel Ruger. Prior to going to the shop I handled everything on the phone and I had never been to the shop. I took a chance and I am glad I did.

Sure, take food from the guys table and then try to justify it with a weak defense. I guess that's ok hiding behind the anonymity of the internet.

The guy only makes $10 on a PPT??

Sheesh, I think if I squeezed really hard I could fart $10!!

You guys needing them should be glad Ade's even takes the time to do them
for internet sales. As Donger said, you already are showing him the food you
took off his table. I am a retailer so I know what its like.

An experience is subjective. One person gets great service, and loves the place. Another gets so-so service, and has no opinion one way or the other. Another gets poor service, and will never go back. I am of the latter in regards to my experience at Ade's.
The same experiences have been posted concerning Turner's, some love it, many don't. Could it be the shop just had a bad day? sure. Maybe they had one bad apple, maybe they're having a rough time. It makes no difference to the person wanting service, and spending their money, I have no time for their bad day, or reasons, I just move on, and don't look back.

I am not trying to smear anyone !!! All you guys who are all over my Kool-Aid sayin' that I am trying to smear Ade are totally wrong !!! My hope is that someone who works in the shop like Andrew, or even Ade himself, will hear about this thread and think, "HMMMM.....Maybe we need to get back to the basics and change a few things !!!" I said nothing in this thread that I have not already conveyed to Ade's. According to some of the other postings, I am not the only one who has had a less than pleasant experience..........

I can't stress this enough.....He is a great guy and if he can turn things around, I will be first in line to go back to him.......

Ade committed to send his ffl in a timely manner. OP posted that he apparently didn't meet his committment. If that's true, shouldn't be an issue with making it public knowledge...nor is it 'taking food from a guy's table'.

Off topic, I'm surprised the shipping ffl doesn't use ez-check.

I've had positive experience with Ade sending his FFL, and following up with the guy to make sure all was good.

Like somebody above has said, give him a break, he's got an ATF audit, record business, and house moving all at the same time.
