Well what goes around comes around...........
NATO and EU got involved and took side with civil wars in Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Kosovo suppling weapons, doing bombing raids and eventually sending in "peace keepers". They did the same things that Russia is doing now with Georgia and Crimea. When Russia voiced outrage and said what NATO and EU did in the Balkans was illegal by international law (which just a few months ago it was commented on that they did act illegally) they just ignored Russia.
So the EU/NATO is who opened the door for this type of "intervention" by other countries and set the precedent for this so they are the ones to blame for this.
That is the MAIN reason they going so soft on Russia because if they get any tougher then they will have to admit what they did was illegal. They would have to pull out all NATO/EU troops out of Bosnia and Kosovo and turn over control back to Serbia. They don't want to do that because the illegal drug trade has exploded in Kosovo and Bosnia and the EU/USA politicians need all that extra bribe money from the drug lords to pay for their fancy new toys.
Ukraine military is in a sad state because they kept good relations with NATO and Russia so they never spent the money on their military as a country that has a unfreindly nation close to them would. The other thing is most of the Eastern European countries that have joined NATO actually REDUCED their spending on and size of military forces depending on western Europe NATO allies and U.S.A. to come to their rescue.
The one GOOD thing you can say about Putin ...... he took over the Crimea without having to drop a single bomb or fire a single bullet. If it was NATO they would bombed every military, police and government building first before going in.
Also another interesting thing that was brought up by HellaYella about Ukraine groups is simular to the Balkans conflict. The sides supported by the NATO/EU during the Balkans conflict also were the same groups that sided with the Nazis during WWII:
Croations, Slovenians, Bosnian Muslims and Albanians and looking at the Ukraine it seems the EU/USA once again sided with groups that are pro nazi or pro facists.
Interesting coincidence don't you think?
