    I'd agree with this.

I had a dude agree on conversion to be done. He needed all the parts which I had most of them but still needed about 100$ of other stuff that I didn't have. So I buy everything with the guy telling me he's good for,it (owns his own business money not an issue yada yada) The day he's supposed to come over he texts me saying he's running late. Never showed, never called, never returned pm, nothing. So then I'm stuck out 100$ cash that my unemployed arse didn't have the money to spend to begin with because this guy decided to flake on me.
This is the second time I was ever burned like that, first time I was working and it lk was only 40$ in,parts. I actually met that guy at a build party 3 years later and found out he was a Dr.
There are 3 kinds of people in this world.
The wise, learn from the mistakes of others.
The smart, learn from their own mistakes.
The others, well......they just never learn.

The rules say "neutral" for such scenarios.

Posting to the sale thread? That has nothing to do with the sale. It's about communication. I thought the rules said not to bump the threads with chatter anyway.

in the attached picture, he did state that OP was first in line. I think that trumps whoever says i'll take it first in the thread. Unless OP took a long time to respond, but does not seem that way based on info provided.
            Have a good day!

Based on my very limited personal experience selling guns on Calguns it's possible, even likely, that chefrob13 whined so loudly and obnoxiously that the seller figured reneging on the deal with the OP was the easiest course.

              Just a guess.

Whatever the case, the seller lacked the testicular fortitude to inform me.

You were actually 3rd in line for the gun. So chefrob was in the right to call you out on it.

On the other hand it looks like the seller was playing games as well. dishonest in my eyes

I sell it to the first person who says "I'll take it" by either PM or Post, Date/time Stamp wins in case of multiple "I'll take it"s.

If there are 2nds or thirds in line I do not contact them unless the first person backs out. But thats the other thing, if you back out of a deal with me for some BS reason I'll never sell to you again.

so what's the lesson to be learned here? post on calguns FS thread trumps all others? what if seller is posting on multiple sites?

i usually follow whomever contacts me first gets first shot. doesn't matter if it's a post, PM, email, etc. (i compare between the different contact mechanisms).

why does post come first? OP posted he got confirmation he's first in line via PM.

Post is discouraged by forum rules, as it is a bump. You're SUPPOSED to PM like this thread's OP did.
