    Transfer Fee too high

I'm trying to trade handguns with my brother in NY. The sending it isn't very expensive, but the two shops I've talked to both want a lot of dough. I have spent over a gran with both shops and still one want $100 + $25 and the other wants $75 + $25... I was thinking $50 maximum. I just don't like getting taken advantage of more than the money.

Sorry to say, that's sounds about right. LGS's are charging more than they used to a few years ago. I know 2 shops around me the fees are a minimum $100 + DROS.

Pay the $75, get the gun and be done.

$100 sounds about right. Don't get mad at the gun stores. Get mad at CA laws mandating this idiotic process.

Do you mean the federal law that requires interstate transactions to go through an ffl, or the state law that allows the dealer to pocket whatever they can from the transaction?

What's your location? There are reasonable people here and there.

Sorry, but that thread is 3 years old, do you really think those prices are still in effect today?

The price of gas, milk and bread has risen too in case anyone wasn't aware...

Yep it sucks. Especially since I've done a lot of them. Even more aggravating is most shops outside of CA only charge $10-$30 for em.

I pay 62 at my local gun store. It sucks when other states pay like 10 bucks max for a transfer and In CA we have to pay half the price of the gun.

SF will be tough, if you go down to San Jose there will be better prices. mparms is one.

The dealers sending into Kommiefornia should be charging more since they have the extra step of CFLC registration and paper generation. I bought a P226 from Nebraska, think it was $20 shipping from the FFL since my local shop would not accept from private party. Then I get stuck for another $150 transfer handling fee at the local FFL for import and SSE fees.

The best I've seen is Mount Pleasant Arms in San Jose. $70 including DROS.

cflc is free to sign up and takes minutes to sign and getting a shippment approval takes seconds. I dont deal with out of state dealers who think its a hassle to deal with us. Plenty of dealers who do. Some dealers are outrageous in transfer fees, and here in central valley are plenty who charge cheap.

I just asked a local gun shop about transferring an AA 89K pistol over from Atlantic Firearms and it will cost me $150 .
