    Dumb local gun shops

So I do a deal ppt on a pistol. I look on line for a local shop to do the transfer.
I see a couple in my area of Rancho Cordova that are open Monday morning and set up a time with the seller.

1st gun shop, 2 people behind counter, I customer doing business. I ask, " can you do a pp transfer ' real ****ty look " afternoons on Tues and Thurs " oh well ...

Go to next shop 2 minutes away, same question, another funky attitude and " you have to make an appointment, wed and thurs " crap ... I'm getting nowhere ....

so I get on my phone, search and make a call to Cordova Shooting Center. Guy politely says " no problem, come on down ". We both trot on down and the staff took care of the deal with a great attitude and a 2nd employee jumped in and helped as well ...

Here's the icing ... while I'm renewing my HSC, the seller looks over the counter guns and decides to buy a new handgun with the $ I gave him.

So they sent us pack'n and lost a sale. I'll never go back .... Dumb

    yep, I feel ya.

I am about 5 miles from a local gun shop. I moved to this area about 2 years ago and wanted to develop a working relationship with a local retailer. It is helpful to both sides if I bring them money, they often can work with pricing within reason - and I am okay with that and it has worked well for both the retailer I would patronize and for me as I would get reasonable access and pricing on my shooting/hunting needs.

    So,
    my local gun shop.
    I bought a $1k collectible S&W revolver from them
I bought a Seekins lower from them during the panic at a $100 premium as I needed one for a build and would rather pay the extra cash and not have to wait. Good for both of us - extra money for them, no wait for me. I am good with that.
I bought another Stag lower from them.

I asked them to ship a rifle to my father in Oregon for a Christmas present. I gave it to them about 10 business days before Christmas.
I called my dad on Christmas day and he had not heard from anyone.
I called the LGS - no apologies, no explanation, nothing ...
Finally mid-January it finally made it to him.
    Lame

I went in about 2 weeks ago and saw a Browning Hi-Power for sale. Went home to do a bit of research.
I decided I wanted it and called back to talk to the person I discussed it with.
Waited on hold until they told me he would call me back. I let the person know I wanted to buy the Hi-power and to have him call me back.

    No Call ...

And the simple math here is ... No cash for them any more.

Too bad for them, I just bought another 2 rifles for an upcoming trip this summer.
If the owner and staff weren't such aloof nitwits they would have seen every penny I spent this year on firearms (>15k) flow through their store.
That won't be happening at their store, that is for sure.

Sometimes it amazes me the lack of business sense and overt self-absorbed attitude these guys have. - freakin' ridiculous IMO.

On a completely opposite end of the spectrum (and unfortunately about 50 miles from my place)
Parallax Tactical has always come through with me as promised, great prices (my LGS prices suck in general), and are just normal friendly, socially normal people.
That counts for much in my book.
    And so I go there.
In the past 3 weeks, they have received a CZ550 I purchased, I bought a Kahr PM9 from them, and a scope for said CZ550.

It would be funny if I didn't have to drive an hour each way just to deal with decent people.

Post the names of the local shops or post the good and bad in the Sacramento region section. I bet I was in both shops this week and one was ok the other not so much. Not been to Cordova shooting center yet but will make a point of going on your good review.

Both of those shops in Rancho Cordova will be gone once the new Sportsman's Warehouse opens.

Sorry, I don't see why Cordova Shooting Center decided not to do the PPT just because the seller wanted to buy a gun from them.

As I read it, Cordova Shooting Center handled the transfer.

I get it now. Is adjusting to DST still a valid excuse for brain malfunctions?

The OP didn't post the names of the shops in Rancho that said no to the PPT. Only two LGS. that close to each other in Rancho Cordova. I wonder if big 5 Rancho does PPT ? The wife did a pickup at one of the local Rancho shops monday and it went fine. I can spend a little extra at the local shop if the service is there when I'm not spending big money but bad service and I'm going elsewhere like the OP. did.

I believe the intended opening date is around May 1. No idea if that is still the target date. It will be nice having another Sportsman's Warehouse especially because this one is much closer than the Rocklin one.

Luckily I haven't encountered any shops pulling this BS in the Bay Area yet. That's gotta be frustrating. I just bought a pistol in which the seller drove 2 hours to meet me. We didn't call ahead, as we shouldn't have to, and I can't even tell you how pissed off I'd be on the sellers behalf if they would have turned us away.

Sunrise and Zinfandel area. Not Big 5.

Cordova Shooting Center did the ppt. They were pleasant and accommodating.

I don't get it with these small shops. It seems as if they don't know you or recognize you as a regular, you get the cold shoulder.

I know there isn't big money in performing a ppt, but the parties are gun / ammo people .... potential customers for the business their in.

Funny way to do business .....

I would guess the shops are the closest of the two when you google Rancho Cordova gun shop. I went into one of them about 4 or 5 years ago. The shop was dark and the two gentleman didn't even bother to greet me and my friend, and we were the only customers in the shop.

I end up getting my first gun, Sig P226 Navy, from Cordova Shooting Center. I believe my friend got his Beretta 92fs from Cordova Shooting Center as well but at a different date.
