^^ Ditto on USAA. I put it on my VPP (Valuable personal property).

Covers loss, theft, accidents (crappy ammo, etc). Doesn't cover confiscation though. No deductible.

I have USAAs renters on my car insurance and motorcycle policy. Full coverage on both Vic's, $15000 renters w/ earthquake and fire. I pay $130 mo and when about $8000 worth of mil gear(my personal deployment issue) was stolen from my car, they popped the cash into my checking the same day (after I gave them the PMO report info). No rate increase either. The agent told me that they would go replacement value on my guns up to $1500 each to the policy limit or full value beyond if I have them appraised and provide them with the info.

People need to check their individual policy from their specific insurer. Mine has a $1500/per policy up to $3000 and even then it's a percentage of the overall policy (my case right now $23k) which is xx% vs xx% of the policy, whichever is less, even if other firearms have their own schedule.
You can get individual schedules, but my particular company, if over $1000 in value, wants an appraisal and pics for documentation. Anything within 24 months is ok if you have a receipt. Does you no good for PPT or purchases made before CA bans for non-roster stuff. I echo the actual replacement value vs current worth sentiments. Am looking into 2 appraisal places. Problem is insurance companies will request one, but don't tell you who the underwriters accept because they are afraid fraudulent claims will be reported.
The cost is low compared to a safe, if you can't bolt one down into concrete, but adds up over 10+ years.

Additional insurance is expensive to cover firearms through Farmers insurance. Thanks for the links as I'm going to look it up.
