Do you guys/girls think if we (America) put economic sanctions on Russia, that their "7n6" ammo is gonna dry up in the American market? and yes i know some of you have stockpiled thousands upon thousands, i don't care, i wanna hear your opinion on OUR situation, not yours.

Russian situation and effect on ammo

I believe the current situation will negatively impact the importation of firearms and ammunition from the countries involved.
There is already talk about imposing (import/export) sanctions against Russia.sigpic

This thread just made me think of Red Army Standard ammo. One of their production suppliers is in Ukraine. The other one I believe is in Bulgaria or Romania. At least not all their eggs are in the same basket. The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.Comment

It's going to make all ammo prices go up, since the nutjobs will stock up even more thinking they're going to get invaded by the big evil bear.

It happened before with the banning of all chinese (Norinco) ak's,sks's ammo and parts..
It happened in the Yugoslavian wars with the banning from import the fine Interarms (Zastava) Mark X Mauser based rifles and Barreled actions etc..Comment

Lots of countries out there that could pick up the slack. AK47's are used by the armies of a lot of countries, and it's reasonable to conclude that they load some or all of their own ammunition. If there was a market demand for ammo now being furnished by the Russians, I'm pretty sure that you'd see supplies begin to come in from those countriesComment

i think if sanctions are placed on Russia...i'm sure it will have a little effect on ammo costs. the majority of price increases will be artificial and it's companies/people driving the cost up to make more profit.
ammo cost increase will be the least of my worries, imagine what this will do to the parts kit availability and costs.Comment

It depends on what options the Obama administration has regarding the Russian incursion into Crimea. One of the easiest option is trade sanctions.
There are very few gun forums that have not discussed this issue in some form or another, so if the word "sanctions" plays over and over on the media, I'd expect a run on the available supplies. The smart Calgunner would buy some ammo ahead of the news just in case.
Other countries other than Russia make the 7.62x39, but only a few others make the 5.45x39. This caliber is going to get affected more by sanctions IMOsigpic

I can only see Russian/Romanian x54r, and 5.45 really being an issue. Other than that, x39 should be okOriginally posted by thrillhouse700I have to wait until all the info is in before I make a statement. Obviously the family dogs had it coming.... other than that, waiting on more info.Comment
