    Was I 5150d?

    So short version:

I was drunk and tazered by the police. I was brought to a hospital then transported to county mental ward where I was interviewed and let go several hours later. From what I've read here I was supposed to be informed of my loss of firearm rights upon release. I was not told anything. nor did i sign anything but the normal discharge paper work. Was I considered to be "at the door"? or did I loose my right?

I have stopped drinking and have not been tazered since... sorry to be so short with details i am not proud of what i did and it's awkward to me to be posting that i want to own a firearm but i may be 5150d.

doesn't sound like 5150, more like your garden variety 390

they would not have released you if they considered you to have been a danger to yourself and others

If you can't control your drinking enough to stay out of the LE spotlight, stop drinking and get help.

I would NOT bring that up ever. You'll know if you've got issues during your 10 day wait period. Don't buy your gun at a place that will keep a deposit or have a restocking fee.

If that becomes an issue, you'll need to hire an attorney, but don't go there unless the NICS fails.

DO NOT red flag yourself for no reason. Just answer honestly, as you appear to have done nothing wrong and do not know for a fact that you are a prohibited person.

Based on the limited information you've provided, you do not seem to be.

Once you're cleared and have your gun legally...

    donate $100 to the NRA

The Progressives/Liberals and antis want to make EVERYONE a prohibited person and to keep expanding the categories of prohibited persons.

That you are asking this question shows how effective their dishonest strategy to undermine our civil rights has been.

ie. have you ever been depressed?

Well sir, I have quit drinking. There is a lot to this story that I wish not to disclose. But I will say I did seek help and have close to a year clean. I live in martinez ca. would you recommend a place to shop?

Also what is a 390? Drunk bung hole needing a good taze?

        drunk.

I'm in SoCal, so I'm not familiar with the shops in your area.

Just remember if it isn't in writing, it'll be hard to get them to honor later.

Always read ALL the fine print. You may spend 15 minutes - 4 hours doing it then, but 12 hours of reading and debating may save you thousands and months embroiled in a lawsuit to get your hard earned money back

Actually you can run a background check on yourself and avoid wasting time and money getting denied.

California Department of Justice has a FORM you can submit to check if you can own guns.

Fill it out and send it in,

            Simple solution.

              ^ This.
If there is any question, just fill out the paperwork, have it notarized, and send it in.
Mine took about two months for a reply.
The approval letter arrived on a Friday, there was a gun show on Saturday, and I purchased my first gun on Tuesday.
              A very exciting time.

Congrats on the one year. I'd say the best shop around that area is city arms in pleasant hill. They are friendly and helpful there, no attitudes. If you happen to like attitudes, ridicule and someone acting like a bigshot, etc, then try canyon sports in Martinez.

I collect Military Arms and enjoy shooting in local matches. I also collect older Lever Actions, especially those chambered in odd/old cartridges. If you have a nice old Winchester or Marlin in 25-20, 32-40, 38-55, 40-60, 45-70, etc etc, please PM me and we can work out a deal.

Its possible, but it might just be a guy looking for advice too.

If its a troll, its a weak one.

There's also Kevin Smith (home based FFL) in Martinez. He has a few things and can order stuff too.

+1 for both shops mentioned. I've had several firearms shipped to Kevin, and it's always a pleasure to deal with him. I've never actually bought a firearm from City Arms, but I've bought other things from them and they've always been patient with everyone in there and are always willing to answer questions and help out.

OP, I'd suggest staying away from Canyon Sports in Martinez. With the amount of attitude I've gotten from them simply by asking a few questions, I'll never buy another gun from them. I could see them taking your money, then charging you a % of the purchase price as a "restocking fee" if something went wrong during your background check.

Congrats on the year of sobriety and good luck with buying your first fun.

You weren't 5150'd. When that happens you're held in the hospital and unable to leave for a period of 72hrs
