Don't worry, if it is decent brass, I will not discriminate between microstamped and nonmicrostamped. Either will work just fine.

For the moment it looks like microstamping is as fictional as the Lord of the Rings, but should it ever become commonplace, of course microstamped brass will be collected, in bulk, and commercially reloaded as well. Again and again and again. As brass is now. A few years after microstamping becomes widespread, reloaded ammunition will be available that has already been stamped two or more times.

If gun manufacturers ever do start making firearms that micro-stamp the brass the only advantage I can see is being able to count how many times the case has been reloaded.

I can just see laws passed that will prohibit the possession of brass that was not fired from your gun, reselling of microstamed brass and firing ranges will be required to collect and hold customer brass.

All brass has microscopic tool marks unique to each weapon, many manufacturers already prepare a fired sample and include these with each weapon sold. Iam not sure how adding more tool marks would make anything better, of course this was as well thought out as the "ghost guns" current stupidity!

Don't some states require those fired cases to be submitted to some registry? I am surprised this state is not on the list.

What if someone started randomly collecting microstamped brass and randomly leaving a few here and there in areas of lots of criminal gun use, like certain streets in Oakland, SF, San Jose, Chicago, Detroit and other liberal paradises?

(OK, it is kinda 'littering' but IIRC there is some big exception to 'littering' if it is 'political action', so I'm gonna stretch it, and after all the brass has quite a bit of value for scrappers in those poor liberal havens for the many "shopping cart" men and women)

First thing that could happen "in theory" is cops would come knocking on the door of Joe Blow, the computer programmer and gun owner in Redding, CA about ANOTHER shooting on International Blvd, Oakland. But they will also have brass from that block from 5 other random guys with clean records and alibis from different distant towns.

To properly implicate someone based on hypothetical microstamped brass, said genius criminal would have to make sure that all of the brass he used came from the same gun. If he salted the crime scene with brass from several different guns, he would implicate several different people, and that evidence would likely be thrown out. It'd be about the same as not leaving any brass at the scene to begin with - which seems like far less trouble to me.

NY is one of them, has been for at least a decade. Number of convictions based on that data?. . . . . last I knew. . . . . . . NONE.

I knew a buddy who was kind of pissed at a do it yourself, wand type, car wash and the world in general, in a suburb to San Diego.

One of my Dad's good friends used to have thugs dealing drugs in front of his house. One day at the gun range he picked up a couple of fired .45 slugs with some deformities.

Later that week he shot these slugs at the drug dealers with his sling shot and laughed his *** off when after getting hit by the slugs one thug picked them off the ground and screamed "someone shot me!".

It would be prudent of the democrat majority in Ca to address the OPs issue quickly !

Perhaps another well written law added to the 2000 written yearly,may just solve the problem before the non existent brass starts to show up at crime scenes .

Calgunners may add me to the list of those who think a part time legislature is a good idea .
