I'll bet you're only getting 40mpg because you ride that Metro WFO all the time, haha.
And for the record, if you rode the Yamaha exclusively around town, you'd likely get worse MPG than w/ the Honda.

I've never been on a 4 stroke scooter yet... but if it's anything like the 50cc 2 strokes, you want to be stopped as short a time as possible (it just feels better keeping it mooooving). Riders usually get warning "bleets" (and the occasional "slow DOWN") from the local cops around here.

Lastly;

"Get out of gay, free card"? That is kind of offensive and I usually don't care. I don't think you can get out of gay with a simple card. Not to mention I don't even think gay men ride yellow scooters and wear MAX4 Crocs.

You guys need to toughen up if you think riding a scooter with crocs on makes one gay.

Point 1; I have no idea what gay guys ride... the Dykes on Bikes have a preference for Harleys while the typical gay guy ride in the city seems to be the Miata.

Point 2; Having had motorcycles AND scooters forever, it's one of those things that kinda goes with the turf of having a scooter... people think "awwww how cute" more likely than not.

Point 3; TenPercent, please wear something more protective than the Crocs while riding? They are Uber Comfortable, but only more protective than the dreaded flip-flops. I'm a FF/EMT in SF and have seen under 25 mph Car Vs Scooter wrecks where the rider won't have use of either or both feet again. In some of these instances they were wearing Loafers, Flip Flops and (laced up) All Stars.

Hold on, you are getting 40MPG on 50cc Honda metro? You are doing something wrong! I used to get about 75MPG on my Zuma.
I know a few people with Metros and they getting 90 to a 100MPG.

My Honda Reflex was getting around 63mpg when I took the local+freeway route to work. Something sounds wrong with your mileage.

Never hauled guns on the scooter. The closest thing I've done was wear a tac-vest full of fishing gear over my MC armor. With the spinning and baitcasting rods sticking up off the back, my co-workers thought I was borrowing SINCGARS equipment. Plenty of odd looks from the local park rangers and PD, but was never pulled over or anything.

Actually it did, until the larger carb and pipe kinda shifted the power band UP. Slightly heavier clutch springs brought the wheelieability (is that a word even?) back to the 180. Still have the 50/72? That 180 now only sees limited use per the scarcity of factory parts.

I used to build expansion chambers so here's a tip: Lengthen the header pipe to lower the powerband. Go the opposite to raise the powerband. If your header pipe (before the expansion cones, getting larger diameter) is 10" long and you need to move the powerband from say, 7000 down to starting at 5000, try adding 1.5" of the same diameter header pipe. It's trial and error but this is how you compensate for how the larger carb "relocated" your powerband.

I knew you were and I don't take offense. However, I think we deserve to give a certain level of respect to the gay community. I was probably just being overly sensitive even though I am already over it. I guess I just don't want to be a part of the anti-gay crowd. I do not agree with homosexuality and I personally think it is wrong, but that is their choice to make as I have made mine.

I was pulled over on the 99 in Fresno County a while ago by a CHP. I had a Stag Arms model 2 in a soft rifle bag in my passenger seat and the officer saw it and asked what type of rifle it was and its caliber. I told him it was a Stag-15 and it was 5.56mm. He didn't ask any more questions. I was surprised he didn't even ask to see it after I said it was 5.56mm.

I was going to say the same thing, on my Vespa's I ALWAYS got in the neighborhood of 100mpg, even doing 75 on the freeway.

Some jurisdictions treat putting 1 or 2 feet down as a requirement
for stopping at a Stop sign. I've been riding since I was a kid, however; when I ride through DC, I know their PD will issue a citation if I dont put both feet down at a stop.
Its bs and its winnable in court, but I dont have the time to mess with it.

Its handy knowing trivial sh*t like this.

I went to CFiber reeds; moved it down plenty between that and the clutch springs.
