What do you actually mean? Eye and ear protection should also be "common sense." They are made requirements at many ranges because sadly, not everyone has "common sense" and because of the grave harm (and resulting liability) that can come to someone not using such protections.

Not wearing clothing with crude verbiage/graphics and/or gang-wear in public (particularly where kids might be present) should also be "common sense", but that too is lost on many. For many it's a way to draw attention to themselves which they clearly crave, no matter how many people they might drive away from the range.

Same with things like closed-toed footwear and hats. It should be "common sense" to employ these articles too but many simply do not care or they simply don't know.

The "common sense" response on these matters all too often sounds like a lack of diligence/caring.

You need to hang a round a little more. This guy has a long standing habit of pontificating on on the minutea what others should and shouldn't do, and how they comport themselves. He starts threads like this then they devolve into him lecturing everyonoe on how they should adhere to his standard. He doesn't want your opinion, he wants to talk condescendingly to as many people as possible.
