It's not really about a dollar figure for me, but if driving a certain distance makes the purchase "worth it" from a collection standpoint. I've driven to different parts of LA (~2-3 hours from me) on multiple occasions to pickup hard to find firearms. I will be driving 1.5 hours next week to start the DROS on a $500 handgun just because it is closest FFL in SoCal who has the SSE compliant parts.

I live in Salinas, why in the world would I leave this wonderful place for anything? Our local gun store lies about the gun store in another city, their prices and selection suck. I just love it to much to even consider going anywhere else, lol.

I have driven an hour to PPT an overpriced off roster gun. That's two hours round trip twice, once to fill out the DROS and once to pick up. I've done that twice too. I haven't been tempted to do that again yet.

I live in an area with only one gun store within a 30 miles radius.
So I always make the trip out to Victorville or further down south to score some savings.

I've driven two hundred miles round trip for a $125 rifle. 450 mile round trip twice to PPT an $800 COP. Etc.

Depends how out of town and whether I had other reasons to go to this out of town place.

$200; I'd drive to LA from OC... knowing its probably two trips.

I did the reverse last year; paid a bit more (hundred something) since it was 'right here' at a place on the way home from work...

Just asking. Cause I know I do a lot. I take the family and go out to eat stores. Make I day out of it. I would like to support local but price and selection is not always good.

You guys/gals that have the choice are lucky.
My LGS is a 2 hour drive (one way). There is one closer ( only 1.5 hours) but they don't stock much and prices are ridiculous.

I drove 63 miles for a 1911 ~$150 under retail with some extras. Didnt bother me since I happened to be heading back that way on the way to Mammoth 11 days later
