LOL. 4 bricks of .22lr isn't even worth my time to go to Walmart. Really, 2000 rounds is nothing and buying only 2000 rounds at once is not contributing to any shortage.

Well apparently 2,000 rounds is a lot for the people who go to the range, shoot 5 magazines, and then go home without any ammo left over. I know of at least 1 internet shop where the minimum quantity is a 5,000 round case(when it's available).

It's not really even that. People need to get a sense of scale and go out shooting more than once a year. If I could reliably keep stocked on .22lr, I'd be going through 500 rounds a week.

I go 2 or 3 times week. I do grocery shopping there and also work on my own cars so I get my oils, cleaners, clays etc etc from there and it's on the way to work.

Bah, leave him alone. He must be one of those guys that checks gunbot once a day and claims there's never any decently priced ammo listed, or looks at the sticky thread in the rimfire section once a day and wonders how anyone ordered anything when the 12 hour old posts already list as out of stock. You don't need to justify your "hoarding"(lol, and it's really not even that much) to these people, so don't bother. They'll continue to be without and finding bare shelves left wondering how anyone else is getting ammo.

I was able to get 2k rounds because they had the 1000 round winchester boxes. Like I said, I could have got 3 boxes but when I was about to check out a guy walked up and saw how bummed out he was he came late so I told him to get a box and I got 2 instead.

Agreed. It's because I prepare myself that I don't find myself in his shoes. It's because I'm proactive I have ammo to give to new people I take to the range for free.

6,500 rounds of 22LR in 90 days is great - but before this "crisis" I used to be able to buy 6500 rounds of 22lr any given day I felt like it, by walking in to a almost any local Big5 and then subsidize it with another 10,000 if I felt like it from an online dealer like Cabelas (plus get free shipping).

The Wal-Mart's in our area don't sell ammo - so checking is futile.

now I'm pissed... for the past 4 saturday mornings,I've hit 4 Wallmarts in my area (anaheim,Brea,LaHabra) around 7 to 8 am ....Por Nada. I cant shoot my 22's cause I've got no Ammo...cant shoot the model 41,or the Mossberg M44 or the Nylon66 or the H&R M12...and on and on...I am pissed! Keep an eye on trader...I'm almost to that point
