    Midway USA officially sucks

I tried placing an order for 308 projectiles to load up some match ammo. When I went to check out, I got an error message telling me they won't ship ammo components to San Francisco. I immediately placed my order at www.grafs.com with no problems.

Don't get me wrong, I love midway and have spent thousands of dollars ordering from them because they're a one-stop-shop and their prices are very competitive. But lately, they have been giving the shaft to dealers with their "dealer" pricing and now this. Many other retailers send loaded ammo and components to San Francisco and I will continue to patronize them. Midway sent me a customer survey after I added the stuff to my cart but never checked out. They'll be finding out real soon why I won't do business with them until they change their policy.

Oh my god! How dare they refuse to help you violate the law!

    Specifically:
Within the limits of the City and County of San Francisco, the sale, distribution, transfer and manufacture of all firearms and ammunition shall be prohibited.

How is their "dealer" pricing giving dealers the shaft? I have always found their dealer pricing to be 10-20% less per item.

I would do not buy loaded ammunition or components from them anyway. They are way more expensive than other dedicated ammunition dealers.

If that's the case, then someone needs to tell that to Midway.

On most of the stuff I buy, reloading components, loaded ammo, rifle stocks, etc. the dealer price is about $1 cheaper than retail if it is cheaper at all. This is just my experience with the stuff I have bought. Your mileage may vary, and I am glad that you have gotten good discounts through them. I have always found Brownells to treat their dealers the best.

                Indeed.

In this case, a nice email to Midway support might go a longer way than an angry rant.

                Just sayin'.

Correct! I included that in my survey to customer service to educate them.

This is the snipped from my letter to them:
The second problem was checking out with bullets (just the projectile) in my cart. I was notified to my surprise that I was not allowed to ship projectiles (.308 sierra matchking) to my work address in San Francisco. I am well versed in local and state firearm laws (thanks to www.calguns.net and www.calgunlaws.com) and there are no restrictions on shipping loaded ammunition or components to the city and county of San Francisco or the state of California.
                    <cut>
My father and I have been a long time customers of Midway USA until you enacted these restrictions on the people who need your help the most. People always point and laugh at California and San Francisco's crazy restrictions, but it is the retailers who are afraid to ship into these places, even in accordance with the law, that are depriving citizens of the means to defend themselves. I fulfilled my order through another retailer who had a working shopping cart and was happy to ship to my work address in San Francisco. As long as these restrictions are in place, I will only patronize those businesses who help the few San Franciscans who enjoy the free exercise of our second amendment rights. I sincerely hope that you reconsider your restriction on shipping ammunition components to the city and county of San Francisco so that we my be able to do business in the future. If there is a local ordinance banning the shipment of projectiles to San Francisco, I apologize, but I have not heard of such a restriction since Proposition H was overturned. If you with to contact me to discuss this further, blah blah <snip>

                      Fair enough.

Good luck! I do hope they change their policy on that.

I wouldn't be angry with Midway I'd be angry at my mayor and local politicians.

So we shouldn't be mad at Cheaperthandirt because they refuse to sell vertical foregrips and collapsing stocks to people in California?

That was put in the books per the Handgun Ban. It has since been stricken. Unfortunately, like everything else in our little township- the web head who manages that site is s-l-o-w to make his/her changes.
