Floaters in my vision affecting my shooting

I've been shooting a lot of 10m air rifle recently.
The rear peep is tiny, and I'm finding more and more, that "floaters" in my eyes are drifting into my view and sitting right on top of the front sight.
    Is this a common thing?
If so how do you deal with it?
    WTB Irish firearms:
old SxS shotguns, Enfields (Irish contract or FF marked), RIC marked carbines or revolvers, odd ball flintlocks.

Oh boy, this is a tough question. It sounds like you are using a post front sight? Depending on the floater, you may be able to aim better with a lolly pop front sight. You may have to adjust the front aperture until you get a decent sight picture. If your floater is at the bottom of the bull, the lolly pop will let you look at the top of the bull. The other trick would be to move to a center hold but I don't find that a good reference point.
    Did that help?

I too have floaters. My eye doctor told me the only drastic thing that can medically be done was to drain the eye and re-inject the fluid and chances are the floaters could move! Or us a laser light for the firearm..........

Me too - lately they have changed from rather transparent to dark and when I look through a scope one of them ends up right in the cross hairs, which is not only annoying, but makes me lift my head to move them.

My optometrist said there is nothing that can be done about it. As a shooter he said, live with it or change hobbies, but I am older, so issues like this go with the territory.

Floaters increase with age, and is natural. But if you have a sudden onset of floaters, or flashes of light, then get yourself checked out soon, in case of retinal detachment.

Floaters bug me the most when I try to swat a fly against a white wall. Sometimes that floater distracts me, and I swat towards the floater.

I notice with age, that floaters gets heavier and sinks faster. Those brand new floaters hang up longer.

Im 24 and have tons of floaters. At my rate, ill be blind by floaters by the time I hit 35. They bother me through out most of the day. Always think a fly is around or a bug is crawling on me. I even notice them when I close my eyes... just cant get away from em.

I'm not too sure on what a floater is, but it sounds like undissolved protein right?

For some of us, the floaters is just another sign of getting older. Change your sights to get a different sight picture is about all you can do. Just remember, they will move and change over time. So what works this month may not work next month.

Nope!!! Most floater are detached dead cells from your retna where it attaches to the optical nerve. Depending on how the move is an indication to how far they have drifted in your eye fluid from your retna to the lens.

Eventually they disolve. Sadly about the time one disolves, another breaks away and the cycle begins again.

Oh my goodness, sorry to hear. I had never heard of them until I got them and my eye doctor explained it to me, but at least I was semi-old.

I got a scratch in my eye, normally I don't see it when I'm doing something. Like the thing on South Park and the squidly eye.

Hmm... I've had them since I was a kid and still have the now... the darkness or intensity has not changed in over 35+ years.... sometimes I see them and can't stop looking at them... then the next min they go away (maybe cause I'm 'concentrating' on something ?)

If I'm looking at a computer or phone I see them... If I'm driving, or shooting I don't notice them.

Then again I'm now in my mid 40's and now I have to use reading glasses... or the 'big f--king old person font size' thesedays.... grrr..
Laws and common sense is all up to interpretation to us humans... and guess what? Humans suck.

Onegtalon... toooooo many hobbies man !...

Best way to see them is to stare at a blank wall or up in a cloudless sky for a few minutes. They are dots or bits that move slowly across your field of vision. some of them are like tiny donuts, probably red blood cells.

My wife had a big problem with floaters. Her doctor used a laser to treat them. It took about a year to do it all and prevent the capillaries from bleeding new ones.
