A pistol is illegal if it has a threaded barrel? I thought it was legal if it has a magazine lock.

how are AR pistols exempt then?

Not that simple. Incorrect actually. Any barrel can be threaded. Rifle or pistol. You can own and possess both. Once installed, the rifle barrel is still legal. Once installed, without a permanently attached device, such as a compensator, the pistol barrel is illegal. If a device is permanently attached to the pistol barrel, it's legal. I have a comped .40S&W Springfield Armory Defender. Legal. Threaded Tactical Solutions barrels for the Buckmark are legal to purchase and own, but you better make sure the thread protector or compensator are permanently attached before it goes on the frame.

          The following statement is true.

              Just to clarify something here....

The CAL-DOJ has requested that we do not alter RAW (Registered Assault Weapons) from their original configuration as it was registered when we applied for our CA-AW-DD Permit.

If the barrel on your RAW was not threaded from the factory or when you registered it, and you want it threaded, we have been requested not to do this, so we do not.

This was discussed again with the CAL-DOJ agent who came to our facility last year to perform an audit for our CA-AW-DD Permits, and again they have stated that we should not alter any RAW from its original configuration as it was registered.

Normal CA Compliant AR15's is not an issue.

              Thanks,
