Ha! I was going to comment on the R51 (which I think is ugly).

        And you're so right.

I checked with Springfield, they are expecting to be bringing out a 4" XDs in .45 ACP by the last quarter of this year, September-October area.

If you get a chance, could you ask the big name glass makers if there are plans for a AA lit variable scope? Thanks.
I asked several manufacturers (Trij, Swarovski, Tru-Glow, Nikon,Burris) and no one is planning for an AA battery powered scope. The common comment was how would a battery that size work on a scope without looking like a tumor.
I did check out the VCOG today, it looks nice, is very sharp and changing power is cake as the entire rear is the adjuster.

Since I know there is interest I stopped in at Glock for pictures of the Glock 42.
I like the single stack grip and the light weight but honestly for a .380 it's a bit big comparatively. On the other hand it will be much more controllable and easier to aim then the smaller pocket .380s.

Ruger has an anniversary 10/22 that just screams 'Take me to an Appleseed class!'
The scope mount is a combination rear peep sight and full rail allowing the use of iron sights without having to go aftermarket or the use of an optic.
The front sight is a winged post like the new Mini-14 and the muzzle is threaded with a flash hider.

Another new rifle that caught my eye is the new DPMS 16" Lightweight Carbine. In .308
This thing weighs hardly more than a standard 5.56 AR pattern rifle, I picked it up and had to check the mag well to verify that it was a .308. It felt so much like my 16" Stag 5.56 it was amazing.

I was told that the weight cut comes from a redesigned bolt and carrier, smaller and lighter then a normal .308 bolt and carrier, using twin extractors as well as redesigned feed ramp to improve reliability and some other changes as well. The reduced weight bolt carrier is suppose to reduce the mass in motion and when coupled with a standard .308 buffer and spring actually reduce felt recoil.
Obviously I didn't get a chance to fire it today so i can only relay what I'm told about the recoil.

It uses the same mags that other DPMS .308's use and the barrel fittings were redesigned to allow the use of 3/4 of the hand guards on the market for standard 5.56 ARs. All in all this felt really nice and 'familiar' rather than large and oversized like many .308 ARs.

Is this the same company taking orders which has yet to fill out orders they already have? The same company charging people upfront and not shipping out in a timely manner.

If you are at the show make sure and stop at Long Mountain Outfitters/Small Arms review, booth# 8606. You can sign up for a free tour of their facility and they provide a shuttle.

We just got back. It's the most impressive collection of firearms/machine guns I have ever seen.
You think you know, but you have no idea.

Oh yea, a 30 round 22 mag carbine should be a hit. Heck, if Keltec manages to product more we might see 45 round extended mags. Imagine having 135 rounds in 3 magazines

                                Kes, thanks for the report.

Bummer as I had hoped variable scopes will be moving to a power source that lasts more than a few matches. Now, I guess we just wait for BigJimFish's review. Trij will have to be amazing to beat out the Vortex HD2 which is almost $1k cheaper.
