All I have to do with the RRA kit is tap it in with a plastic hammer.

The DPMS requires extreme force to hammer in.

They go in, but no way as easy as other kits.

I have always used roll punch pin punches to install LPKs and have never used vice grips or pliers. I would imagine more force would still be necessary with a DPMS parts kit. So if I had a choice, I would do anything else. There is something to be said for a company that does things right.

If DPMS is all you have and you want it, it will work. I simply prefer other kits.

If you don't want to wait, the DPMS will work. I can probably hae a RRA kit to you on Tuesday if you are So Cal or Wednesday if you are Nor Cal.

I take drill bit that's slightly larger than the hole diameter of the lower and bevel/de-bur the edge of the hole in the lower. I do this by spinning the drill with my hand. Don't use a drill motor or you may go to far. It makes it a lot easier to set the roll pin. Then use some needle nose pliers to hold the pin and tap it in using a solid, heavy surface to support the lower and to keep it stable.

If it were my money, I would go RRA. Will the DPMS work? Yes? Do I build customer guns with DPMS? Yes. There is a difference, but if all your local guy has is DPMS, just support him for supporting you and get one.
I would have to agree with 10%..the trigger guard roll pin is tight..and requires a good whack with the hammer when using the roll pin punch....but I've found that beveling the edge of the roll pin first will "tap" it in easier. I bevel the roll pin by placing it in either a dremel tool or electric drill...spin it and then use a fine grit sandpaper to hold at a 45' angle for a couple of seconds. This bevelled end taps into the trigger guard roll pin hole easier. I don't mind doing this extra step...and the roll pin in the trigger guard is super secure.

I have a DPMS LPK in my Doublestar "M4" build. I don't recall it being a pain to install, I prepared accordingly and took my time (I'm pretty good with tools and can be one with the force if need be).

I think I'd be concerned if my LPK went in "too" easy. I'd be worried that the pins would start walking out of the lower in a combat situation.

Now, the trigger pull on the DPMS LPK is by no means a sweet match trigger, but it does it's job. I'm not sure if I'd want a hair trigger on a rifle that's intended to hit the dirt.

I have both, boteh work fine and do their job. The trigger pull is roughly the same on all brands. I've found sloppy and crisp triggers in every brand but if you plan on swtching to a two-stager it won't matter. Both DPMS and RRA are quality LPKS. Find a deal and buy with confidence.

Spend an hour or 2 on the 'build it yourself' forum on arfcom...not a criticism, but it's really a btdt with not a lot more to be said.
