Stick with the mechanical dial. They never fail. I have had much better luck with those versus the electronic ones.

I got my self a "24 gun" for about what you paid. Hard to drop that cash but I don't regret a thing. Couldn't live with out it. Only problem is I find my self having to stuff my guns in together harder and harder.. Almost time to clean the shelves and open the other rifle rack side

If it's a digital he can track down the old code and reset it that way, if it's spin dial idk how to reset those. I couldn't tell in the pic if it was a digi or spin dial

Good find. Combo's can be changed, Liberty can refer you to a local locksmith. I was given a quote of about $100 - $150 locally to change mine. In time you may appreciate the dial better, the electronic keypad locks have more internal moving parts that can fail and lock you out.

^^^ Agree, not to mention EMP blasts can also disable the safe.

To change the combination on a mechanical lock you remove the panel from the back of the door, insert the combination tool into the lock and set a new combination using the dial index lines to the left. Locksmiths charge way too much to do this 5 minute job. You need to make sure you don't use a number in the dead zone for your combination too.

I made the mistake of going to liberty safe as well. I had a budget of 500 bucks. Ended up buying a 42 gun safe for almost 2k. Oh well.

Nice safe! My 1st safe was a bare bones Sportsman Steel safe probably almost 20 years ago. It was the most I could afford at the time and there weren't as many vendors to choose from so your Liberty far outclasses mine.

I had my electronic lock fail 2x. 2nd time I had to have the safe drilled. I went mechanical after that. The bad part is not only the cost but depending on the lock after your safe gets drilled once you may not be able to drill it again because of the way the hole is filled. If you are going to go electronic do a background search on that brand to see if they are prone to failures. If you are worried about fast access get a lock box just for you your HD weapon, that way you only risk losing one firearm vs the whole safe.

Buying a 2nd safe is also an option when you need more room. I think 2 smaller ones would be easier to move than one big one.

Just a quick update.

Since I am a little “tapped out” from the holidays, I have decided to hold off on an electronic dial. I’m having second thoughts on the electronic dial because of the feedback I have received in this thread. West coast safes will be out Friday morning to change my combination.

The safe is a Lincoln model 25. Its capacity is 24 guns. It came with a de-humidifier.

After getting use to the manual lock, it really is not that bad.
