If I was trying to show someone that gun owners are normal, everyday respectable people, this is the last place I would take them to. It looks like a dingy, dimly lit indoor flea-market that happens to have a few guns laying around for sale.
I'm not here to talk-up the Gun Room, but personally I have never had a bad experience there. The Gun Room is clean, well-lit, looks respectable, and they have more guns than I could fit in my truck, out on the shelf and ready for your inspection. A very wide selection of models and makers. Also there is the indoor shooting range there. Every time I have been to the Gun Room both I and whoever I have brought were treated with courtesy and good service. Sure, sometimes they are busy... but what successful business doesn't have those occasions?
But I am all about the bargain too... if Wild Bill's has the same gun I can get at the Gun Room or other retail gun store, for $100 less, I'd give him a shot, sure. It's just that it's unlikely I'd want any of the half-dozen guns he has on hand at any given time. Been a couple years since I've been in there, since he's closed half the weekend and another day of the week as well. Maybe I'll find time for a side trip the next time I visit the Gun Room. Maybe. And give him a look see.The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.Comment

Half-dozen guns? You obviously haven't been there in a while. I'd say there are dozens if not hundreds of guns for sale there each time I have been in lately. It's just that it's unlikely I'd want any of the half-dozen guns he has on hand at any given time. I really like Wild Bills. the only downside I have ever found is that the people who work there will answer any question to its fullest no matter how many people are in the store. You might be there to pick up a gun and have to wait for 30 minutes behind some guy asking "9mm or 45" and walks out empty handed.
Some would consider that a good thing others are bothered by it.Pr. 22:3 The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.

You're right, it's been two years... "hundreds" of guns would be what the Gun Room has on display. When I was in Wild bills there were a few guns in a case, and I mean FEW... Maybe he has stocked up since or has a back room I never saw... mostly what I remember from there is "americana" like neon signs and other antiques. I certainly did not see anything particularly "oooh"-worthy. And not any great number of guns, nor impressive specimens. The one thing worse than defeat is surrender.Comment

Welcome to CGN. Don't be afraid to start a new thread.
I bought a bum magazine from Bill a few years back. Not that it was his fault. Wish I'd done my last PPT with him, instead of the GR.Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...
I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.
Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

GREAT GUN SHOP
Just wanted to say, this place is amazing. They are located at Grantline and East Stockton Blvd in Elk Grove, right off of Highway 99. Yesterday, I went there to buy some ammo and I was stunned with their huge selection of firearms and accessories. They have a large variety of Western clothing, and leather gear. The customer service was great and very friendly. In addition, their prices were the best I have seen in a while. Just wanted to say, if you have a need for anything firearm related and you are in the area, you should definitely go there.
They do a Good job especially the Lady Checkout and finalization :

I help out behind the counter from time to time, not as much as I would like though.
It's been a LOT of years since there were only a half dozen guns on the shelf. For those who don't know: Branden opened Branden's Gun Sales on Folsom BLVD back in the 80's. He then purchased Capitol Pistol Club and changed the name to Branden's Guns Sales & Indoor Range in Rancho Cordova. (I was an asst manager at this location) He then purchased The Bill Davis Service Center. For a few years he operated all three stores while still working for SMUD. I won't go into to many details but due to anti-gun politics his landlord would not renew his lease at the range. He also had some theft issues with some employees. He closed the three stores. When he retired from SMUD, he opened Wild Bill's Old West Trading Post in Elk Grove. He waited until retirement so he could be there to oversee things. It may not be flashy and pretty, but it is a unique store, and very much a reflexion of Branden's personality. I know we can't make all customers happy but we try. Stop in and say hi.
