You do not need a license or a tag to legally protect your property( livestock or pets) from predatory animals. However it is not a shoot on sight deal either. Just because it is passing through the property isn't generally cause. If you feel that it is actually stalking your livestock or pet, your good to go. Just don't brag about the shot, if you aren't going to turn it over to fish and game afterwards. A buddy just shot one about a month and a half ago that had decimated his chicken flock. And yeah use something more than a .22, we have a duty to at least be humane if we have to dispatch an animal.

It has been stalking my small dog and it's pretty brazen. I'll make sure to bust out my 3006 to make sure it's good and dead. My neighbors won't mind..

They are brazen. I was amazed at how this guy just sat there and looked at me, 25 ft away. Not a care in the world...I hate to shoot him but I am concerned about my kids, and the neighbors birds are diminishing at a rapid rate... Oh well.. Just another excuse to get that .22/250 I so need.

Also, lit up a coyote in my back yard last month with a pellet gun. Then my co worker from AZ tells me that his 6'2 17yr old sone was walking the trash down the drive and was attacked by a coyote (male). He fended the bugger off and tracked it to the den, where he proceded to empty his 30rd (AZ) of .22lr around the den, not hitting the pups or parents, then threw his sock in the den for them to get his scent. Smart kid.

You can never be too careful...

As long as your poperty is not within 150 yards of occupied dwelling. If so you need written permission from that owner/ resident to discharge bow/ crossbow/ or firearm depradation permit or not.

Don't shoot it, it is not looking to hurt you or your animals. It will take out small stuff like rats. It is just a bobcat, not a mountain lion.
Don't be scared, Man up, leave it alone.
