From a distance, it looks like at least 10 people there. It's not packed like the rifle and pistol ranges. But definitely more than in the past.

Metcalf is ALWAYS packed on the weekends. I tend to avoid weekends because that is generally when all the new people are shooting and tend to muzzle sweep and such. Go on a Thursday, barely anybody there and it's just really nice and relaxing.

That's funny, I went to a SD range yesterday (Saturday) at around 5pm, and there was only 1 other person there before me. At one point, I was the only one in there. And they are the cheapest range in San Diego, at $12 unlimited shooting. They still can't get people to go there. Every time I go, I'm reminded why I hate the place.

our range was packed all weekend according to the range master, and it's not usually crowded.

its the holiday crowd. i felt bad for the RSOs at my club - they were doing an awesome job but had way too many "not good" situations to deal with.

Trap and Skeet Club in Lincoln had a record turnout on Thursday and Sarurday.

They charge 12 bucks unlimited time and no one goes? Why do you hate it.

What? I was there from around 10-1:30, and there was always at least 1 100 yard table open, usually a few.

Seemed like any other typical day at Chabot with the RM up in the building yelling at someone to get away from the tables during every ceasefire, and 1 idiot letting a round off a good 45 seconds after they called a ceasefire(making everyone have to wait while they asked the person to fess up, which they didn't do).

edit: Also, I've never seen metcalf rifle/pistol range not be packed, but typically the problem there is parking, not getting a 100 yard table. If you want 50 yards... that's when it can be half an hour.

                          I was pissed.

I took off work specifically to go to the range in the middle of a week day while everyone is supposedly working because I had some serious work to do and it's tough when you have a wall-to-wall crowd distracting you. It's not just that they make noise and create chaos. It's also that you have to constantly watch all your gear to make sure none of it walks off. Well, guess what, we rolled up and the place looked like the mall on Black Friday. WTF? I didn't even go in. We just turned around and came home.

On the other hand, I'm glad the range is successful and doing some good business. Looks like I'll have to try again another time.

It's all the new Christmas guns and ammo. It will go back to normal in a week or two...I hope.

Just wait till they have to buy ammo....then the ranges will be empty again.
