Some time ago, I posted a comment that I felt there would be major riots across the country if Mr. Zimmermann was acquitted of murdering Trayvon Martin, and/or if Obama was ousted and Romney was named as President of the United States. I was absolutely certain that I was correct.
I offered to match someone's $50.00 donation to CalGuns and I also offered to up the ante by $200.00 if there were no riots up to 14 days after the verdict came in.
I am a man of my word, but I don't have a very good memory. While rustling through papers tonight, I came across the printout of my post, wherein I made the promise to pay $50.00 if nothing happened up to 48 hours after the verdict was read, and another $200.00 to CalGuns if nothing major happened after 14 days.
Well, although there were some minor skirmishes, absolutely nothing resembling what I had predicted actually happened, so ... I WAS WRONG.
To make good on my promise, I have donated $250.00 to CalGuns tonight!
I will say that I am somewhat pleased that the "feeders" in America exercised self-restraint and didn't do what I had fully expected them to do. Maybe ... just maybe they are beginning to realize that the B.S. that has been spoon fed to them for the past 40 years by the liberals is actually working against them. I was almost PROUD at the way those who disagreed with the Zimmerman verdict behaved, for the most part.
I no longer live in CommieFornia. I moved to Free America (Kentucky) in May of 2011. It is difficult to describe the feeling of freedom I feel here. I did not know, while living in So. CA., just how much I was missing until I moved to Kentucky and began to experience REAL freedom.
As an example, I tore down an old tobacco barn on my property. It was built by the Amish over 100 years ago, and it was a BIG, beautiful, red barn. But it was useless to me.
So I went to city hall to the planning dept. I requested the forms and papers I would need to file in order to tear down a "historical structure over 100 years old" and replace it with a new building of considerably larger size.
The folks in the office looked at me, puzzled by my request... "What forms?" they asked. I explained that I wanted to get the paperwork started. Finally the head of the planning department came up to me and said, "Mr. Jones, this is Kentucky. If you have a hammer and a nail, you're a contractor!"
He explained that I needed a building permit ($65.00) and he did want to come out for two inspections, the sewer system (septic tank) that I would install, to make sure I wasn't going to ruin the integrity of the soil in the surrounding area, and the electrical installation. Other than that, I was FREE to do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g I wanted to do! My 20'x30' ground level workshop turned into a 32'x60' 6,400 sq.ft. four-story building with an elevator
I got a little carried away. It isn't finished yet.
After living here for the requisite six months I applied for and received my CDWL (you guys call it a CCW). I now routinely carry, LOADED, both open and concealed, as the mood strikes me. No one rushes their children away. There are no MWG calls to the Sheriff. I do get the occasional, "Nice weapon!" comment from passers by, and sometimes not-so-brief conversations with other open carry citizens about, well … everything!
I can walk into any gun store in Kentucky, select my firearm(s) and after presenting my CDW and filling out the federal form (which is dropped into a file cabinet) I can walk out through the door with rifle(s,) shotgun(s,) handgun(s) AND AMMO in my arms. I can even walk in wearing a loaded pistol carried openly, and buy guns! It is literally like living on another planet.
The very first time I did this was on July 4th, 2011. I went to Wal-Mart just because it was the last gun shop open at 9:00 P.M. I told the salesman, "I am a free citizen, it is the 4th of July, and I want to buy a firearm!" We looked at several, but settled on a Marlin 30-30, just because it had a flat surface on the side where I will have it engraved:
"My first firearm purchase in free America! July 4, 2011 ... God Bless Kentucky!"
I did not have my CDWL at that time, so he did run me through the NICS system which is open until 10 PM., for this rifle. I walked out 20 minutes later with the rifle and a box of ammo, feeling like I had just been released from a maximum security prison! All I got from the people was, "Nice rifle! ... Is that one on sale? ... Did you get the last one? ..."
I pray that you all remain safe in these turbulent times, and that one day soon, you too, will be able to hold your head high and proclaim, “I am a FREE CITIZEN!” while wearing your fav-o-rite firearm in a holster on your hip.
Merry Christmas, Calgunners, and have a very Happy New Year!
Joe Jones
