First of all, FFL transfer fee is not regulated and each can charge whatever they want. Do your homework before you order a lower or any other firearm that needs to be transferred through your local FFL, which there are plenty of. Don't rely on old information, times are changing fast in gun business.

Survives? You make it sound like they're on the verge of bankruptcy. I'm pretty sure JD is doing better than just surviving in this market.

As I said before, gun market can change very quickly, do your homework.

Exactly, on all three points. However, this wasn't the case just 9 month ago.

The thing is the old j.d. did not belive in charging for competitors lowers. Witch is pretty cool. But apperantly that idea is gone now. If i had known before hand i would have sent it somewhere closer or just purchased one directly.

I am in no way trying to bash j.d. quality or service of any kind. I am just trying to relay the message that J.D. Machine does in fact charge a transfer fee now.
If you had known? All it takes is few key strokes and phone calls to find the FFL that charges the least for transfer. I'm surprised to see that J.D. didn't charge for transfers at one point.

Or you can just got to Team Big Shot in Miramar. They have JD 308 matched sets on weekly basis. They also charge 45 bucks for out of state transfers.

Where exactly have you seen a $20 transfer fee? I'm moving my business there. Cheapest I've ever seen to date is $55, and most are way more.

JD just started charging a transfer fee about a couple of weeks ago. Luckily i got 2 rifles sent there before they started charging. I actually didnt know they didnt charge a transfer fee when i had a rifle sent there. I was actually expecting a fee.

Redfield in Brea is $45 total for lowers/long guns. I _think_ it's $5 additional after that (unsure about the multiples).

I haven't called everywhere around here, but I don't know of a place that charges less than triple digits close by.

Strange. Did two transfers within the last two months and they only charged me $25 flat, including DROS.

Going direct from JD is $25 for a DROS if you do it all with them. If they shop it to your FFL yea it's about $50-$75 is the norm for FFL transfers sometimes plus tax.

Let me think about this.....JD Machine manufactures and sell lowers, and you buy a lower on line and have it sent to JD to do the transfer. Is this right?

If I were an FFL who manufacturres and sells lowers, and you had it sent to me. I'd probably charge more than they did just for all the paper work that has to be done.

                      You got off cheap!
