Save your Pm's and your text messages and report him to the ATF.

Leave negative feedback and in the comments put "prohibited person, could not complete transaction because buyer failed background check."

          Then pm the mods.

I had a handgun for sell and a member PM'd and texted me he would buy the gun for my asking price that day. When I asked where he wanted to do the PPT he sounded very ignorant about the process so I tried to educate him. He came back with "can't you just sell me the gun with no paperwork". When I said no because it was against the law he started stalling on when and where we would meet. He again asked if I would sell with no paperwork. So now he backs out of the deal and I realize he was playing me. I confront him about it and he finally admits he has had trouble with the law and cannot pass a background check.

I'm pissed at this point and give him a severe lecture which I think he received.
So what should I do about it? I am hesitant to go any further with it but this was very blatant. He knew the rules from the start and lied, played ignorant and tried to dupe me into selling the gun. In the end he did fess up and apologized but said he was not playing me. Should I let this go? Is there a place on the forum to talk to staff about this? Thanks for your advice.

You did what you should have done......start a thread on it to let everyone know. CGN doesn't need to be linked to illegal sales.

based on a recent personal experience selling here you have my curiosity piqued. I am going to PM the name to see if they match.

I had a situtation with a fellow calgunner who agreed to buy a firearm off me that I posted up in the market place. We met up at the FFL and he asked me if I would do the deal outside, I quickly told him no way and that I'm not doing anything illegal. Long story short he agreed to go in and complete the PPT legally. Always wondered if it was a set up.

Hopefully Kes bans him from the market forums. Don't need him trying to pick one up from someone else, or figuring about about the last month of C&R face to face we have.

Well.......without some evidence this is a story and nothing else.

as members don't you expect a certain amount of integrity from fellow members?
This amount of naivete is...........amazing, and makes me doubtful.

This is correct. Of all firearms related forums(for buying and selling) this
place can be the worst, hands down,I say this with the caveat that
about one in ten has been my personal average for a bad experience. In
over 300 transactions on GB in 15 years,I have had two that were not good and one of
those got cleared up with both sides being satisfied. In 62 recorded transactions
here I have had about 7 bad ones. This does not include delays where buyers
had incorrect/expired paperwork etc adding time to a total PPT.

Seriously? You think I have nothing better to do but than make up stories. I think letting the moderators handle this without publicly broadcasting his info is the way to go. Thanks for your support...
