This got me really interested in it. What are your guys' experience with it, and what guns do you have that shoot it. It seems that it's about $5-$10 more per box than 45ACP. I have read that 10mm is great for hunting, but I'm not really a hunter. What do you guys think?
Wolf to Wolf (), I'll have to say:

The 10mm has lots of recoil. It's just that the Glock tames the recoil pretty well.

I have two other handguns chambered in 10mm, both all steel. The Glock is polymer and the lightest, but it tames the round the best. I can literally shoot it all day long. I can feel the recoil most in my Kimber.

If hunting is the only purpose you are considering but you are not a hunter, I say skip it.
But if you are intrigued by the round and plan to reload, then get it. It's a hobbyist round.

Mr. Wolf, my experience is the opposite from yours. My steel frame Witness has less felt recoil than the Glock 20. I think it has to do with the differences in weight, or it could also be psychological. Either way, the 10mm is fun to shoot, but expensive unless I can find every case to reload them.

Has anyone shot the Rock Island 1911 in 10mm yet? It seems to have just came out and people are paying $560-$600 for them on gunbroker.

G29 is just the smaller brother of the G20 (which i own 2 of the G20).

          10mm is awesome!

If memory serves me the 10 mm was designed after an FBI 9 mm round failed to stop a pos bank robber thug . (Miami shoot out 1986 )

The 10 mm never gained the popularity some thought it should because of excessive recoil . I cannot attest to recoil as I've never fired a 10 mm
Some folks say it close in performance to a very underrated cartridge the 41 mag.

As I understand the FBI now prefers the 45acp . Personally I do not own a 40 but I'm extremely impressed with this cartridge which is easily capable of hitting a 7 moa target at 200 yards with any quality pistol .

I have been shooting for a few decades now and when it comes to pistols an "average" shot at best. The 10mm in GLOCK 20SF platform has given me some of the best groups I have ever put to paper. One nice thing about the Rock Island 10mm that just came out is Armscor is putting out 10mm practice ammo (about 1125fps 180 grain) for some where between $20-$25 a box.

I'm a 160 pound guy with small hands. The Gen4 G20 is even more fun to shoot than my .357mag GP100 and I find it easier to get back on target. No, I wouldn't want to shoot 300 rounds in one session with it, but I can't afford to anyway.

Yup, I'm hooked on the 10. I picked up a G20SF. I plan on using it as my sidearm for the woods/desert. I did put a 3.5 lbs trigger connector into it and was having the trigger not resetting. But I think it was due to not holding the trigger all the way back during recoil. I didn't have that problem last time I was out with it. I'm also going to do a few other upgrades as time goes by.

The 10mm has .357 magnum speed and power, but in a larger caliber and with a heavier bullet. Plus a Glock 20 magazine can hold 15+1 rounds (instead of 6), and not to mention its one of the most accurate semi-auto pistols out there. What's not to like!

My Witness handles recoil better than the Kimber but not as good as the Glock. I guess it all depends on fit. I have relatively small hands.

My Kimber's 1911 frame feels slightly skinny but long in my hands. The Witness feels full. And the Glock feels perfect -- it is a Gen 4 and I use the medium backstrap.

Ahh, that might be the reason. My Glock 20 is a third generation with finger grooves. Hey, you want to trade glocks?

Plus the rounds you can find ammo from the 9mm weight to 45 weight 135gr to 200gr, At 200gr it's still flying faster than a 45

Yeah 200gr flys way faster than .45! Well from some companies. The 200gr hornady still goes 1080fps
