Ventura Gun Show

I was a part of a table group there.


The reason why we had no "modern" firearms is that the woman, who has the license to have the whole show, did not renew here licenses and the DOJ threw a fit. There was mass confusion about what we could sell, so most of the dealers just left.

Don't waste your time. Just got back from Ventura, and it was empty. Big sign out front said "NO Modern firearms for sale" Everything was C&R. No Miwall. LAX was there selling ammo. Saw a guy selling Federal bulk pack 22lr for $65 each. Couple of booths were selling various repair kit magazines. Gen 2 pmags were going for $25-30. That's about it.

I wish someone had posted yesterday no modern firearms. Did not see sign on front got there at 8:40 no one at parking entrance so parked and got in around 9:30 that is when I found out no modern firearms.

Nobody knew. I saw on IVE's FB page this morning that they were there early setting up and were told to stop. That was their warning

As I said in the other thread; how do you just "forget" to renew your license if you are the host/promoter of a "gun and knife show". Pretty shabby.

Still walked out with 1000 rounds of 9mm. Big buy of the day was a holder for my surefire for $10.

I was unhappy about the modern firearms but more bummed out about the bamboo pillow vendor not being there.

I don't buy guns at the gun show i just talk to nice people and look for little things I may need. Still the lack of vendors and lack of GUNS was enough for me to no longer support that promoter. I saw a women going around and begging vendors to please continue to rent tables in the future. It was kinda sad.

That sure ticks me off! I've gone to that show when it was run by Roadrunners and also by Crossroads and enjoyed them both. I might have to cross RR off my list now. I can understand why the DOJ was pissed because that is something you just can't overlook.

And what is the purpose in that?

Does 9mm shoot "slower" or more safely out of a DWM Luger or Walther P38 than it does out of a Glock Model 19? Does .30-06 shoot slower out of a Garand or 1941 Johnson than it does out of an H&K 940 or SLB-2000? I HATE it when I hear firearm-ignorant Anti-2nd Amendment types say things like "oh it's a collectible, so I'm OK with that" or "Oh, it's an antique, so that's OK" or "well, no, you're not the same as 'gun-nuts' because the guns you collect are like museum pieces and highly-valued" - screw that; these idiots wouldn't know that most any firearm made since the 1860s can be just as much a weapon as anything made yesterday and a large portion even share the same caliber/cartridge ammo made the same way since around 1910.

And just what is "modern" by definition?? Does that mean post 1900? Post WWI? Post WWII? Or only C&R by ATF's definition? Stupid; I had an appointment for a PPT as well as bought some things today at a gun store today, so I skipped the show, but I was fully intending on going tomorrow; but NOT NOW - I won't go for that reason alone. What a crock of crap.

Is McMann's Roadrunner going to start mandating this crap at all of their shows? They can count me out from ever attending one of their shows ever again if that is the case.

I don't think we need to infringe on ourselves in order to make the Anti-2nd Amendment firearm-ignorant populace feel good about themselves - or get them to "like" us - by appealing to that BS mantra that "oh, collectible/antique/rare/museum-piece/engraved/non-modern/whatever guns are "OK" but modern guns are bad".

I'm not buying that as their reason; seems to be a cover for some seriously screwed-up political BS capitulation to the media and antis. Some 20 years or more they have supposedly been running shows, and then that happens? Calling a big, steamy, corn-bespeckled, sulfury-reakin' pile of crap on that one.

My buddy and I rented a couple of tables just to try to get rid of some excess gear. We were planning on bringing a few firearms, but you know what happened with that. We didn't even bother to show up on Sunday, but I understand that the show promoter was so desperate for vendors that she let people have tables on Sunday for free just to fill the empty spaces. Pathetic.
