      That is a valid point.

but still no reason for the militarization of local police agencies. Nor is it good reason for the average citizen to allow, condone, or become used to it. It is a problem I see in this country. People are far to accepting of the chipping away of our liberties. And once that happens they accept it as the status quo. We tend to never look back. Look at homeland security and the patriot act.. considered status quo by many... no reason to do away with such things.. its normal..

      Makes me sick.

        ARE COPS CONSTITUTIONAL?

        Roger Roots*

        ABSTRACT

Police work is often lionized by jurists and scholars who claim to employ "textualist" and "originalist" methods of constitutional interpretation. Yet professional police were unknown to the United States in 1789, and first appeared in America almost a half-century after the Constitution's ratification. The Framers contemplated law enforcement as the duty of mostly private citizens, along with a few constables and sheriffs who could be called upon when necessary. This article marshals extensive historical and legal evidence to show that modern policing is in many ways inconsistent with the original intent of America's founding documents. The author argues that the growth of modern policing has substantially empowered the state in a way the Framers would regard as abhorrent to their foremost principles.

        POLICE AS A STANDING ARMY

Good article thanks, also the one on your post #12.
        This is really true.
I feel sad because of the 13 year old boy shot 7 times and killed 3 days ago
here in Santa Rosa,California just because he had a toy rifle.
Andy Lopez, and he was a good kid.
Other kids played with that same toy rifle to.
If AB144 and AB1527 had not been signed into law, this year
that boy would be alive today.
Yes living in a police state is not easy. Robin47
