i know for sure in Palm Desert if you discharge in your house you get arrested. a guy on my street did that without a silencer, not sure what caliber but the pop was comprable to my Glock 17. i heard sirens and had to go pick my wife up from work so i had to drive by where all the action was and the police were dragging the guy out of his house, cuffed, and he was yelling WHY CAN"T I SHOOT MY GUN IN MY OWN HOUSE!? i just sat there for a sec and laughed as they shoved his butt in the car.

There is an old wives tale that if you ever got mad enough at someone, one could get him to go on a fishing trip.. take him out to international waters 200 miles out and shoot him dead because you are outside the jurisdiction of the US.
