    Help ID this revolver

Can anyone help ID this revolver for a family member of mine. I have only seen the photo of this revolver, they are going to check tonight for any markings. Also ballpark of a value.

    Thanks in advance

It appears to be a revolver of some sort.

although it might be an early Smith and Wesson it is also possibly a Harrington and Richardson ot Iver johnsons/ U.S. or one of the many hardware store name brands that were made.
this is just a guess but I've believed that it is possibly loaded with .32 ACP instead of the .32 Smith and Wesson short . may be live cartridges or spent shells
be careful until you check it out.
One thing to know is.32 ACP is not safe in that top break design.

I have to ask was my guess correct when you opened it up was it loaded with 32 ACP instead of 32 Smith and Wesson short the much harder to find cartridge.?also for the person who pointed out that it was loaded they probably want to know what the shells live or empty cases?

                Handgun

It was loaded and they had someone come over to unload it for them. Still waiting to see it in person to see if I can find any markings on it.

                Thanks

My guess is S&W .32 double action, 4th Model or foreign made copy.

It has the pinned round blade front sight, but the gripes should be black hard rubber.

Trigger guard is rounded unlike 1-3rd Models.

When you break open the action, do you have automatic extraction of the spent shells?

If you find a serial #, post it.

Look on the rib on top of the barrel for patent dates and possibly a manufacturer. I have a Forehand and Wadsworth that is very similar in appearance.

Make sure they don't throw out the ammo.

Harrington and Richardson or S&W. Pictures a bit fuzzy. Maybe a S&W Top Break No. 3.

Old H&R, S&W or Iver Johnson most likely.
