Yes, I read the whole thread.

So, he told me he didn't care about price. He does t know what I paid. I can throw in a value pack box of 100 rounds and I offered it for $750 for the package. He pays the fees. I'm not ripping him off if it's a good deal to him, right? What say you?
I am having a hard time understanding how you say you offered it, yet you backtrack and say you never intended to sell it?

Your professional high level of service shouldn't be reflected in a personal deal out of convenience with your neighbor... unless like another said he is a tool, then I agree, go for it.

I wouldn't pay $55 for a brick of .22lr. But that brick might have value to a guy that wants to take his kid out shooting and he is low or out. Now, he doesn't feel like he is being gouged because he gets the ammo he needs and the seller gets to cash that he wants. There's nothing wrong with that.
Just because he buys it due to a pressing need (to spend quality time with his kid) DOESN'T mean he doesn't feel like he is being gouged and doesn't mean he is happy about doing so. He has just made a decision to spend what he has to for the sake of his kid. His parental desire to ensure his kid's enjoyment has pretty much removed his "free will" in that situation....don't pay it = kid suffers.

As for the ethical dilemma I posed, if my neighbor wasn't smart enough to educate himself or decide to price check how is that my problem.
A classic case of "situational ethics" if I ever saw it. Which further proves my POS comment. You never stated what "business" you run but it sure sounds like you learned "sales" at a used car dealership.

Based on what you have espoused in this thread it would really seem that your giving a few "good guy" discounts is how you attempt to prove to yourself that you aren't as bad as you know yourself to be.

All of this Kumbiya stuff and we should hook a guy up for exactly what I paid isn't how the world works. Don't like the price, don't buy it.
Yes screw the guy, especially if he is stupid enough to try to help you (a friend?) out of a poor purchasing decision you yourself made. He must be a sucker ripe for fleecing.

Actually that's EXACTLY how your posts come off. Like you were testing the waters and then didn't like the fact that pretty much everyone called it a douche move. Which resulted in some serious "this was just to start a discussion" back pedaling.

You wouldn't be the first (by a LONG shot) on these forums to have done what you just described.

The exercise was simply to point out the hypocrisy of those who ***** about gouging while complaining about fair market and socialism. If you couldn't figure that out, there's an Economics class at U of Phoenix you should take.
What I figured out was that you have no qualms about screwing people over who are supposedly your friends, because it's all about the profit.

Before you call someone a POS, maybe read the whole thread. Or just try to be a decent human being.
I did in fact read the entire thread BEFORE I called you a POS and I feel no need to change what I wrote. As far as being a human being, the simple fact is that I would NEVER even contemplate what you postulated in your (suddenly hypothetical) example.

Even at the height of the frenzy (when I was spending time/money tracking down reasonably priced ammo for myself) I still gave or sold it at my cost to people I knew who needed it.

There is a HUGE difference in how a "human being" should handle relationships in their personal life compared to how a business operates for profit. Unfortunately most of the classes that teach that are given by parents to their children and not taught at Univ of Phoenix.

He's your neighbor, you are going to see him quite frequently in the future I imagine. Is it worth it to sour that relationship so you can profit from his current ignorance on pricing? Do you think he will never become interested in the market value of the gun after he buys it? Do you have a junk car with a failing transmission you could sell him instead?
