Who cares what he says? Is he trying to suggest that we shouldn't be allowed to own ARs? If so, simply educate him: the First Amendment does not limit the "right to bear arms" to "hunting arms". Whether or not you "need" an AR to hunt is irrelevant; each American citizen has a right to an AR whether he or she "needs" it (by someone else's subjective assessment) or not.
