I think I'm being scewed **New update post 58**

Ok so I'm sceduled to pick up a S&W Sport tomorrow in Tulare county. The gun was $799 before tax (kinda pricey) so I put down $300 and told em id pay the rest when I picked it up. Well I just now glanced at my recipt. Its $976 OTD. Dros $25 taxes are roughly 9% in this county, wtf? Still leaves almost $100 un-accounted for. Unless I'm doing math wrong I think I may be getting screwed. I have heard this shop charges shipping fees, even if the gun is in stock.....I don't want to say the name of the shop just yet in case I have my info wrong. Are the tax rate correct? I can't find anything online.

Your math seems right. Why not just ask the store to explain the charges!

          I figuring around $903

          $800 for the rifle
          8.5% sales tax= approx $68
$35 for DROS and dealer fee

          $73 too much.

$895 and change by my math. So yes, about $80 bucks difference.

Should've called sportsmans warehouse in rocklin Ca. They sell it for $649. If it's in stock.

How about safe handling fee? Or for the stupid lock they sell you?

Yeaaaaaah I'd have to say you're being screwed over, unless there is a charge you don't realize was there. Definitely bring it up with the guy, after all "every American needs an AR-15" also means they must have money to buy mags and ammo

Wow so the total is $926.92, they charged me a "UPS" fee?! Wtf the gun was in stock on their shelves!? $35 is $35! I've never heard of that! The rest of the math adds up.

wtf is a "UPS fee" for an in-stock item? Even for something ordered from a distributor I've never heard of being charged an extra fee, since that would be rolled into the final sale price anyway. Call 'em up and ask what that's supposed to be when they're open.

Sounds like they wanna pocket an extra 35!

My buddy said he bought a gun off em and they told him "the gun was yours when we ordered it, you just didn't know it yet, why wouldn't you pay for shipping on your own gun" he just told me this now....at this point if I don't go through with the purchase I pay a 25% re-stocking fee. I'm better off paying the damn $35 and never going back to em.
