    Gun transporting Question

Sorry if this is the wrong forum(maybe even wrong website lol) for this I wasnt sure where to post.

I will be traveling to Utah for Thanksgiving time and I am trying to plan early. I would like to take my 80% AR pistol build with me as my parents live close to a range and are gun enthusiasts. Does anyone know of any legal issues with this? Obviously Id be following the normal gun transport rules but I wanted to make sure this was legal so if not Ill leave it at home. THANKS!!!

I'd check the laws of the states your driving through regarding home builds. Assuming your coming from CA, I don't think Nevada, Colorado, and Utah has any problems, but I do not know for sure.

Remember any LEO finding a gun without a serial is going to have a problem, even if it is actually a legal home build. Read carefully about each states requirements for markings and serials, etc.

Federal law enables you to transport a weapon across state lines without getting in trouble by carrying it unloaded in a locked case.

Nevada law allows you to have a loaded pistol in plain sight or concealed and rifles and shotguns can have ammunition in them BUT the chamber MUST be empty and they can be carried concealed or unconcealed.

On some Indian reservations firearms are not permitted unless you are on a state or federal highway. Keeping it out of sight on the reservation is best.

Nevada also doesn't care what kind of gun you have everything including machine guns and all NFA weapons are legal.

I am not sure about specific laws in Utah...
A gun is like a parachute. If you need one, and don't have one, you may never need one again.

If you have a "Smartphone" look for an App called "Legal Heat". Has open and concealed carry laws for all 50 staes as well as transport rules if a strate has specifics. Pretty handy...
