    I think Randall nailed it.

Whose hands were on the controls, the instructor's or the student's?

Is the Dr in? well even if he's not, he has capable people working with/for him. I did my 308 80% and was professionally guided every step of the way by his colleague. And I just read that the good Dr now has a place in Santa Clara for us bay area folks, so less travel time for us!

Yes, a firearm is a poor choice for a first time machine shop project. In school they usually start with very simple projects. Like filing a square cube or just drilling a hole. 80% lowers are really for guys that have the knowledge, skills and access to a full machine shop.

It looks like the holes were drilled about .03" too far forward and the pocket, well that thing is FUBAR. The blue prints for the pocket size and location are easy to find on the internet, there really is no excuse for this large of a mistake.

I don't know Dr. Death but he has a great rep.

I bought 2 anodized lowers from DIY Armory and milled with CNC mill guy. They came out perfect! My 2 PSA uppers dropped in place without any free play. My LPKs fit without issue. You can get great results with an 80.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Just like he said Dr Death kept his word and gave me a free 308 80% with free CNC and milling instructions.

                      I also bought a 556 80% so my 308 had a little brother:

I definitely recommend anyone to go to him. He is very friendly and truly offers satisfaction guaranteed unlike another vendor that promotes this but does not really do it.

You wouldn't believe the crap I've seen and had to rework in recent 80% lowers.
I prefer TM for my 80% lowers, always GTG.
That might be a bit of an exaggeration. The machiners I've checked with don't even use finish reamers for the pin holes, they just use drill bits.

Looks like a terrible drill press and dremel/ router job on deadbolts lower.
