At What Point Do we Just Start Carrying?

So there was a shooting near my house LINK TO STORY, in an area my wife and I drive past on a weekly basis and have walked around. We regularly walk around our neighborhood which is close by and there are gang members who drive through and walk around...there have been some random shootings and you never feel totally secure.

That said, we refuse to stay cooped up in the house and not walk the dogs, etc. Since there is no chance of getting a CCW in Los Angeles, at what point do you just say F it and start carrying because your family's life and yours is more valuable than other things?

Move you say? Well...that is in the cards at some point but selling a house and buying a new one isn't that quick and dirty. We do not plan to live there more than another couple years, but that is still a few years.

No one on this site will approve the idea of you doing something illegal.

Do you currently carry pepper spray when you walk?

    If not- **WHY NOT????**

And now you want some justification of some random person on the internet giving you 'approval' to do something illegal?

You do know carry without a license is a misdemeaner.

    --edit--

It is kind of funny to me that you want to justify this by a random shooting at a place you 'drive by' once a week... Man... you live in a nice neighborhood... I drive through some really bad neighborhoods all the time.

    ---edit again---

I know you've been here a while, and have seen you post in other threads... If this was a username I didnt recognize, that was new here... I would have only posted the very first sentence and reported the post to the mods...

If you're willing to risk a felony and relinquish your rights because your neighborhood is gone to hell, move. Seriously- if you carry and are caught, charged and prosecuted, you'll look back on this day and wish you'd just up and fled to Joshua Tree or Yreka instead. Lawyer money versus the cost of leaving your current situation.

1 out of 100 Americans are in jail. THEY want you to break the law so they can take your guns and your freedom.

Living at your 2nd choice location is better than being in a jail cell, or financially bankrupted by our "justice" system.

Though I definitely empathize with you, California gun laws are what happens when you have a generation of men raised by women...

              It's not a felony.

If your unsecure with your area then carry. It's that simple. Misdameanor concealed weapon.

But for you to get that misdemeanor you must be patted down by the cops... So follow the rules an you'll be fine.

If you end up having to use it you'll get charged. That's the point where you have to weigh the risk for saving yourself or family.

In the ghetto we learned that if someone is shooting nearby, you take cover and drop as low as physically possible. Hug the ground.

It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

If you feel your life is in danger, you have the GOD given right to defend yourself, By anymeans necessary , constitutionly Granted or not.

Yup that neighborhood is bad news bears. Looking at the map, my eyes are focus on Bryant Street east of Tampa.

Unfortunately, as a young padawan I went to Napa Elementary which is a nerf vortex football throw away from that horrid barrio/hood/ghetto. Just think of the sketchy neighborhoods in the Movie Training day, but worse.

I have my CCW, but the one thing I have gleaned from carrying is this. If properly done, nobody will notice, and nobody should notice. My wife is fully aware that I have my CCW, yet she herself sometimes is completely unaware that I am carrying until she places her arm around me or straight up asks. I cannot advocate illegal activities, but as they say... Concealed is concealed. Staying out of trouble is staying out of trouble. CCW or not.

You are the one that can answer your own question. Is it worth it to keep walking around in bad neighborhood? If you carry gun, are you willing to shoot another person, possible killing that person? It is not difficult to kill, all you have to do is pull the trigger but do you have determination to do it when the need arise?
