I watched the film today streamed on Amazon and I was really impressed. It was extremely well written and filmed. I'd never heard of the Athens incident so it great to see how history had played out in the US and as a teacher saddened at the same time because things like the Athens incident never get discussed or taught in public school.Comment

I enjoyed watching it last night, but I think they did a piss poor job of expounding on several key points especially in terms of differentiating between "modern sporting arms" and assault weapons. Anyone that did not fully grasp the concept before that segment likely gained nothing from it afterwards other than they look different on the outside.
More importantly I do not believe they spent enough time bashing those idiot politicians who are trying to pass the gun laws without having any idea about what they are talking about. They showed like two 5 second TV excerpts that blatantly showed the ignorance of the politicians, but only those of us who knew the inside story of it would understand what we just saw. The people need blatant proof in knowing that their elected politicians are clueless and making decisions based on incomplete or nonfactual information. Don't misconstrue I am glad they tried to get it in there, but the people that need convincing require a lot more coercion than just a few snippets.
Additionally I would have liked to see a segment on how those same politicians have armed entourages and or carry guns themselves even though they do not want civilians to do so.
The Katrina segment was well placed, but the message was convoluted. The government came in an took their guns by force, left them defenseless and never returned them. It really should have been that simple. Explaining how the mayor and everyone else got to that point just diluted the message.
I think the best part was the issue of how a gun is a great equalizer for women, but again I think they could have done a lot more with that if they had spent more time talking to women that enjoy the sport or carry for self defense etc.
Lastly since I am armchair quarterbacking this one I think Hoffman and the Korean attorney could have talked a lot less which might have given more time to some of the more important issues I noted above.

This^. It was preaching to the choir.
It was servery lacking in the oppositions views. It really needed interviews and arguments from the Brady bunch and other anti gun groups.
Another great argument that could have been made is how much tax money is wasted by these politicians trying to limit peoples civil rights, and create redundant laws, as well as laws that have been created based on Hollywood. Could also go off on how much time they spend doing this rather important things like the economy etc..

Dan Gross, CEO of the Brady Campaign, was in the film...maybe you should watch it again.
We've had antis convert after watching this film - I personally saw it at three separate screenings. It's an effective film that does what we set out to do - add a voice if reason, logic and fact to the debate.Comment
