    The 100lb trigger pull dream

Interesting thing came up in another thread...http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=32985

A couple of us are having the same dream of having to use our firearm yet when we try to do so, we are greeted by the 100lb trigger pull, or can anything.

Was wondering what is the psychological reason for this common dream?

Come on you Fruedians, let's hear your theories.

Well I was the one who posted the one about a fist fight and my punches never hit hard or the air cushion all but stops its movement. I remember hearing someone talk about dreams and they almost described my dream to a T and they said it was most likely the cause of a "fear of inadequacy".

Not sure if that is true, but it makes sense in a literal way.

ETA: Thought it was this thread:

Hmm...I guess that would follow the notion that men with small penises buy guns LOL

I wonder if it's the fact that we know they could kill, but we don't really want to take someones life. So maybe our subconscious disables the gun in the dream so we don't actually kill the BG? That's just my completely uneducated opinion.

And they buy SUVs, and sports cars, or boats, or any other item that people get jealous of and try to insult the owner to save face.

It's alright if you can't afford a Porsche, it doesn't make you any less of a man. It just stupid child talk, or moronic Freudisms (and that guy was an idiot).

            Please close this one.
It's still a valid thread. The other's haven't touched on why we have them, just who has them.

Now, here's something else for interest. I *never* have problems with trigger pull in my dreams (occasionally ammo shortages, but that's it). However, some online psyche tests (yeah, so take that with a grain of salt) have diagnosed me as a high-functioning or borderline sociopath.

Which might explain why I'm very religious... to compensate for a deficiency in built-in conscience.

I could have told you that just based on your posting. No need for any test...

Just kidding. On that same test did it have a question like:

"Do you own a firearm or wish to own a firearm? and if you do who is currently treating you...you PSYCHO....."

Well many online tests tell me I am in a genius in the top tier percentile.

Just goes to show how wrong those online tests area.

Yeah, but when I take those online personality test, they all tell me I'm a great guy and chicks all flock to me and I have penis the size of empire state building and I've spoiled many many women for other men as they all realize that once they've had me, not other man comes close. Oh and that I'm really modest too.

And all of those are true...just goes to show you.

Three people, the same has happened to me.

I had a dream once that when I tried to pull the trigger, it was stuck like the safety was on.

I have a few guns and I shoot a lot. I think about my guns all the time but I haven't had any dreams about guns. Is there something wrong with me? I want a gun dream to.

*grin* I think actually it may have been something similar to that. It was supposedly an abbreviated version of an ACTUAL psyche test used for initial screening on folks, run as a CGI on the website of some non-profit mental health org. Been a while since I took it, so I don't remember. A question or two DID have to do with self defense, and I imagine that in the eyes of the test, probably a good number of us would have had similar results to mine.

Fear of failure is a common one.
We place much value on success and winning,
and it easily translates to firearms.
If this dream should teach you anything,
is that what can go wrong will go wrong
                            and at the worst time,
so you have to prepare for that possibility.

                            True story.
I once hurt my trigger finger.
It was twitchy and moving it was painful,
and trying to pull the trigger felt like it was 100lbs,
but luckily it dawned on me to use my middle finger,
and I did for the rest of the day,
and the cans kept falling dead
"Give orange me give eat orange me eat orange give me eat orange give me you."
